Who recommended that book to you? Arlen Chitwood is a Millennial Exclusionist. Millennial Exclusion is heresy and people who teach this heresy of ME have been banned off of the BB. There were at least 6 banned last year for teaching and promoting ME.TaliOrlando said:Just read a book by Arlen Chitwood concernind salvation and its very good has anyone read any books by Arlen Chitwood. Also, he teaches two types of salvation.
Be careful of Arlen Chitwood's teachings. Just a friendly warning.
Check your PM, TaliTaliOrlando said:A friend of mine, mailed it to me. People were banned because of this? :tonofbricks:
Wow... well. I have only read that saved by grace one and like you said it was doctrinally perfect.steaver said:Just two more cents....
Chitwood does sound doctrinally perfect on salvation by grace, however, he is reffering to only the spirit that is saved by grace. Then you must save your own soul by works in his distortion of scripture. And one cannot know how many works it will take to avoid a 1000 years of torture in the outer darkness!
God bless!
Steaver: Dear Brother in Christ, I am currently in the middle of a Bible study on this subject and your book, Salvation of the Soul (The saving of the Life), is the center of our discussion. I need to know exactly what your thoughts are when you state that the soul could be "lost" at the Judgment seat of Christ. When you say "loss of one's soul", what is your thought here? Does the soul seize to exist? Does it go somewhere apart from the spirit and body? If one loses his soul, does he go on through eternal life as a spirit and body, less his soul?
Chitwood: The salvation or loss of the soul pertains to millennial verities only,
not eternal.
Think of "soul" and "life" in synonymous senses. The Greek word for
"soul," psuche, can be translated and understood either way.
E.g., note Matt. 16:25, 26, where the word psuche is translated "soul"
twice in one verse but "life" twice in the other verse. Why did the
translators do this? Aside from the fact that the word can be translated
and understood either way, your guess would be as good as mine or anyone
elses.
The bottom line on the whole matter that you are looking for has to do
with the salvation or loss of the soul having to do with either occupying
or not occupying a position as co-heir with Christ during the coming day
of His power over the earth. Understand the statement in Rom. 8:13 and
you will have both sides of the picture.
There is a lot of related material in my book, JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST.
Also, I wrote the book you are studying about twenty years ago and
recently revised the material, which consists mainly of added,
explanatory material. I don't plan to print this revision until at least
the latter part of this year, but the text for the revised version is on
my web site and can be downloaded in Microsoft Word and will be available
in pdf format shortly (www.lampbroadcast.org).
I hope the preceding is of some help.
