I do not see the logical connection.

It would seem appropriate that most Americans (combat vets or not) would believe that failed politics led to the defeat of American forces in Vietnam. Not only did the statistics that you and Carpro agree - that would just feel 'right'. Now if your statistics disagreed and/or the statistics did feel right, I might believe that there is some dissonance.

Really, that is in my past, the stories, and I have better things to do than tell you stories. People that talk, talk, talk, about war, wave the flag, sing God Bless America as they sit in their comfortable houses, never to lift a hand in service to this country while others take on the burden make me sick.

Ya' know . . . he might have been a combat vet . . . but, if he was - he is the second one that I have ever heard 'glory' in it. Most combat vets spend a life time trying to not relive it . . .

    But, Kerry was a first.

Or, as the old adage went, "If he talks about being there, he probably wasn't. If he talks about gory details, he was not even close to combat." And "If he brags about the shell he got in his eye for his purple heart, it was an egg shell while on KP."

    Really?

If you are a 'real vet' I recommend going to the VA and getting some counseling.

. . . if not . . . well, your personal demons must make you really sick.

One observation on which I can speak with authority is that John Kerry is a liar and a traitor.

It is against my better judgement to reveal anything of a very personal nature on a forum. I'll make an exception on this "Christian" forum.

I served as a Marine in Vietnam from 8-68 thru 9-69 with Alpha Co., 3rd Recon BN, 3rd Marine Div. I participated in or led 27 Recon patrols. I was slightly wounded 2 times. The wounds were treated by a Corpsman in the field. Number of purple hearts-0. To reveal any other decorations would sound too much like the false bravado of Kerry, so I'll pass.

    Number of civilians killed-0
Number of civilians I saw murdered by U.S, troops- 0
Number of times ordered to kill or injure civilians- 0
Number of times we opened fire in a "free fire zone" without positively identifying our target- 0
Number of times I operated in a "free fire zone"- 27

    Shall I go on?

Even if that is not a CMH on your wall, this old non-com still salutes you.

    ;)

Honor, duty, country are still important words. But, honorable actions are much more important.

So because you didn't witness it, do you deny things like the My Lai Massacre by US troops occurred?

There is no need to go on, if in fact you were there, then you have every right to say what you say. Time after time on this board there are those who are always for the war, but never served. No, I have no desire to go into details except it was three years later than you. And I do agree with your stats. Never saw anything like that. Kerry is a sad example for a leader. I do have a problem for those who never served to criticize those who did.

Your timing has never been impeccable, yet this is still one of your lesser posts.

    Don't be ridiculous.

But my small experiences alone reveal John Kerry to be a liar.

Well, I do go to the VA quite regularly. The care keeps me able to work, and I am very thankful to them.

How so? He was in a different company than you, I assume, as was Lt. Calley.

You are going up the wrong tree. No, veteran wants another vet to relive the 'fun' of war.

It is not about 'pretty' things.

Just so you know, Kerry was in the Navy. And unfortunately, Calley disgraced the US Army uniform that he wore.

When Kerry said "crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command....", he included me and every other Vietnam veteran and he lied.

There were other lies as well, but it is evident that you will never "get it", so I won't bother anymore.:BangHead:

"Officers at all levels" doesn't mean "all officers at all levels", so your experience however exemplary may not be everyone else's experience. Just saying.
