Unfortunately my references that contain the genealogies of the English royal families through which QE2's lineage can be traced only so far back to Edward, duke of Kent (1767-1820) who was the father of Queen Victoria.
It's possible that the genealogical gymnastics these people use to "proof text" her lineage may do it through QE2's husband Philip, duke of Edinburgh (b. 1921). His patriarchal llineage can be traced through the royal family of Greece (Philip is the grandson [via "Andrew of Greece" {1882-1944}] of King George I of Greece [1845-1913]) whose father was King Christian IX of Denmark (1818-1906). Thus QE2's husband's lineage includes that of the royal familes of both Greece and Denmark.
Another possiblility is that we can go back to Philip's grandfather (George I of Greece) and trace further on back on the matriarchal side of G1, i.e., via G1's wife Alix (1872-1918). [FYI, Alix was the mother of Czar Nicholas II of Russia {1868-1918} --the last of the Russian Romanov dynasty.]
Anyway, Alix was the daughter of of Alice (1843-78) [The eldest daugher of Queen Victoria & {Prince} Albert.] & Louis (1837-92) [A son of Karl {1809-77}]. Karl, in turn, was a son of of Louis of Hesse & the Rhine (1777-1848).
If you've followed me so far, that's both QE2's and Prince Philip's lineage gone back only so far as five generations.
Where the current direct royal lineage of England, as well as that of QE2's husband's goes back beyond that is where my genealogical references end.
But I point you back to the year 1848--the year that Louis of Hesse & the Rhine (the 5th generational descendent of Price Philip) died.
That year--1848--was the year of several revolutions within Europe occurred.
In France, King Louis Philippe of the French royal line was overthrown.
In parts of central & southern Italy the puppet governors of the Austrian Hapsburgs are recalled and these Italian states begin the long process of the re-unification of all of Italy which was temporarily halted in the south in1849 by Ferdinand II, and would take almost another half-century to finally be realized.
In Germany, the people are temporarily given a small voice in their govenment via a national assembly.
And in Austria Franz Joseph I (1830-1916) is declared emperor while the Hungarians (a long-time "client state" of Austria declares her independence from "Mother Austria" (FYI--It was the assassination of crown prince Franz Joseph in 1914 in Sarajavo [The next-in-line to take over from his ailing 76 YO father FJI.] by a crazed Bosnian separatist [Bosnia was another province of the Austrian Empire that had long been a "thorn in the flesh" for "Mother Austria" that was the spark that ignited WWI---"The War to End All Wars!" during which the three principal European combatants that had a royal family technically in control of things--England (George V), Russia (Czar Nicholas II), and Germany (Kaiser Wilhelm II) were all three first cousins!
(NOTE: I'll try to continue this in a later post)
