What's funny to me is that so many people think this is God's perfectly preserved Word, when in actuality it's only been around for roughly 20% of the Church's existence.

Where is the contradiction of saying the KJB, is God's perfectly preserved Word?

Did something happen in 1611, that caused God’s Word to stop being perfectly preserved?

Or maybe you think that God’s Word was never perfectly preserved!

"Perfectly preserved" applies to Gramma's strawberry jelly. If the KJV were "perfectly preserved" then there wouldn't be any need to study Greek or Hebrew because that's what God's Words were "perfectly preserved" in, not in English.

I agree with StillLearning--what is ridiculous about some people holding up the King James Bible as authoritative and reliable? Is that any more ridiculous than other people holding up a specific modern translation(s) as authoritative and reliable? Why are the beliefs of other Christian brothers and sisters seen as ridiculous because they differ from our own?

Furthermore, why are you and Mexdeaf hijacking this thread about positive news coverage of the Bible over a major news network?

You are entitled to your opinions about the King James Bible and the people who read and revere this translation. But why do you have to bring your argument into this thread? This thread did not start out as an argument, but a simple notification of some positive press. Why are you turning this thread into an argument? Into conflict?

In my opinion, you should start another thread and make your apologetic stand in that thread.

This thread is for those who want to read and discuss positive news coverage about the King James Bible and its contribution to language and culture over the past 400 years.

I was impressed with the news article about the Bible. How many times does God and the church get "good News" coverage without some mocking liberal atheistic slant?

The news anchor even quoted from the Scriptures, and commented on the beauty of the KJV. David Barton got some exposure as well, and nothing negative.

I wonder if any person watching went out and purchased a KJV due to watching this, and how many maybe picked theirs up and read it?


I enjoyed the exposure and I really liked the whole entire thing, it was refreshing.

It's always good to have any article on the faithfulness of the Scriptures.

There already are a lot of celebrations getting ready to be had about KJV at 400. SBL (Society for Biblical Literature) meeting just two weeks ago had a big emphasis on this. That's a HUGE organization and they had great stuff in their sessions.

Everywhere. The KJV is but an ENGLISH TRANSLATION of God's perfectly preserved word, & we know that translation is not perfect. We've discussed its goofs here ad nauseam.

Not that I know of. However, it was already preserved, long before then. Being perfectly TRANSLATED is another matter, however.

Well, it's not always been perfectly TRANSLATED. But GOD keeps fresh translations before us to reflect the changes He makes/allows in our languages.

My Bible of choice got thumped.

Right now I am making a NASB400 site, then I'm gonna invite voters for my poll!

My countdown clock will be MUCH longer.

There is gonna be a lot of MISinformation, too. For example, in the first podcast at the celebration site, the narrator says that King James was responsible for "commissioning the first English translation of the Bible". Then it goes on to mention other prior translations. Confusing at the least.
