The Greek text does not have the word for God in that expression. "me genoito" is the negation of a verb form which comes from a word for being or becoming. Hence, "May it never be." In 1611, the expression "God forbid" was used to mean something similar, but it was dynamically equivalent, not word-for-word equivalent.

Are you claiming that a "translation" and a "copy" of the originals are the exact same thing?

Do you and do anyone have the original manuscripts or the complete 1602 edition of the Bishops' Bible with the notes giving the words to be changed written and prepared by the KJV translators themselves for the printers? How do you know that later printers and editors have not changed some of the intended text made by the KJV translators?

Yet another example of KJV-onlyism's deceptive use of language. The KJV is not a "copy" of the originals. A copy is a reproduction, and an English Bible is not a reproduction of a Greek or Hebrew manuscript. It is a translation. Furthermore, English didn't even exist in the first century.

Besides, in this very thread, KJVers are insisting that we can't know what was in the originals, yet here they are, claiming the KJV is a copy. How can they know?

(Yeah, yeah, I know . . . "faith." I'd believe it if they weren't speaking doubt and skepticism out of the other sides of their mouths.)

The Bible Bookstore

Well, I went down to the bookstore just the other day
I went to buy a Bible for I had just got saved.
When I asked to see a Bible I could not understand.
They had a shelf-full ten feet long; each one a different brand.

They had the ASV and the RSV, Good News for Modern Man,
They seemed to have a version for every cult and clan.
The so-called Living Bible and the brand new NIV

So I took an ASV to church, the preacher preached in Psalms
When he started reading, I knew something was wrong
I wondered if he could not read, or was he going blind?
But I finally figured out he had a different kind.

Was it a Mormon Bible or some book from some religious sect?
Or the New Scofield's penned state of art from the King James text?
Or the so-called Living Bible? Or Good News for Modern Man?

So I went back down to the bookstore to get my money back.
But when I told them all my problems, they just slapped me on the back.
Said, "Well, uh, Son, some of these Bibles are hard to understand
I suggest that you should try Good News for Modern Man."

So I took the other version, I thought I'd give it a try.
But when I showed it to my pastor, he said it was a lie.
They attacked the blood of Jesus, saying He was not God on earth
They even put some cuss words in and denied the virgin birth...

Wicked!!!

So, if you go to buy a Bible, please take this good advice.
Take nothing but the old King James, the others may sound nice.
Compared to the new translations, old King James may seem odd.
But the difference is expected when you have the Word of God..

I am not able to be on much at the moment, but from a quick look I see far too many attacks on the Bible and each other. I am closing it until I can get some time on here to sort it out.

On second thought - this thread is far beyond repair.
