KJV ONLY

Abiyah

GrannyGumbo --

I certainly hope that when we were bouncing
back and forth yesterday, you did not feel
mocked. That was the furthest thing from my
mind--it never crossed my mind, I never ever
imagined it. It is just that I tend to pick certain
people people out and really like them, and you
are one of several on this board.

In that group are people who write things I
agree with and people who write things I vehe-
mently disagree with, but it does not change the
fact that I just plain LIKE them.

I can understand why you would prefer the KJV
over other Bibles, since it was the one you were
reared with and continued with. All Scripture
that I have memorized was from the KJB, so
although I never read it, when I am looking for
particular Scriptures, I know the KJV words and
must use an electronic KJV, or I have a harder
time locating them.

What bothers me is people who claim that none
of the other Bibles are legitimate and put down
these Bibles. I fear they are treading danger-
ous ground. But among them, the only ones
who get me riled are those who get nasty
about it.

Bless you, GrannyGumbo, if I came across as
making fun or mocking, please forgive me. I
would not do that to you.

That is such a compelling statement of yours here, bud, that it should be a shock if the entire world isn't KJVO by the time it's sundown in Tombstone.
Luke 9:51 "And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of ."

Cynic, I would say the same to you. You know not what spirit ye are of. The spirit that you choose to exude is not one of a Spirit-filled person.

The intent of this post was not to argue or to "slam" each other. The originator of this post made that clear. Your frequent use of the term "bud" indicates to me that you are incapable of participating in an adult conversation.

Go back and review the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5 and let me know which one you displayed in your last post.

Sincerely,
Pastor Bob

Dear Abiyah~Oh no, I have not meant to imply any one particular person...it is a "feeling", that's all...you see, I guess I have led a pretty sheltered life & have taken a lot of things for granted; but lately I find myself cowering for believing in the KJBible & believing it to be the only true/pure Bible.

Sure, beginning in the 80's I wrote 'letters-to-the-editor' & such, about the KJBible, but really had no rebuttals, per se. My family of 16 even took a stand in a SBC church against their usage of the niv in their literature, etc. to the point we were able to at least get KJB pew bibles(a small victory).

But until coming on here, I really didn't know what I was up against...I just knew that comparing what I read to what others were reading didn't make sense to me. What I'm trying to say is, how could they feel so strongly about theirs the way I do about the KJBible? So I went on a 'search' to see what the fuss was all about...

Now to anyone reading; no, none of you have personally offended me, ok? Yes, I have had fun with all of you, but I will NEVER give up my KJBible!(betcha know that already, don'cha?) ;)

Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of .

And just what what manner air ye of, little Bobby?

"No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved." {Matthew 9:16-17, kJV}

Incidentally, the word the KJV renders "bottles" here should be "skins."

KJVONLY means that That I know I have THE WORD OF GOD. I know what my final authority is.

I am of the spirit that is tolerant of those who disagree with my views. I, in no way, choose to compromise my views but I fully support one's right to have an view different than mine.

I am also of the spirit that I dare not disrespect another man of God the way you have chosen to disrespect me and others who "dare" question your position. Again, I have a tough time seeing any fruit of the Spirit in your replies.

The spirit of your actions and speech speak a lot louder than you think. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by referring to me as "little Bobby?" If the intent was to offend, I'm sorry, but you failed. If the intent was to make yourself look foolish, congratulations, you were successful.

ChristianCynic, I don't think you got the message. Pastor Bob is not "little Bobby." Last warning about your attitude.

God is not the author of confusion. So when I say "King James Version Only" That means that is the only one Preached, taught, used, in the Church God has called me too. End of message.
New topic is,"can someone be saved using one of the wrong versions" Go check it out.

I know that the King James Bible is the Word of God in the english language. Can someone be saved with another version? Yes, I was.
Can they learn to rightly divide the Word of God, no. Too much has been changed and or corrupted.

Hal read Isaiah 14:12 in your NIV tell me who is he speaking of? Then read Revelation 22:16 in your NIV who is Jesus say he is?

I just hope KJV-onlyers realize that

A). They aren't being "persecuted" (at least I hope modern-version supporters aren't taking this route)
B). Those of us who use other versions (I can only speak for myself but I pray it's true of everyone else here) are striving to be as close to God as possible and aren't "directly out of the will of God" for using a new version. I have heard some KJV-only'ers accuse those who use modern versions of being completely out of God's will and, sadly, some even go so far as to say a person who uses a new version is not a real Christian (this is more rare). I'm personally insulted, as no one knows my heart but God and I, and God knows it better than I.

C). No one's forcing anyone to give up the KJV...it's still my personal favorite and I use it the most. But that also means that anyone who uses a new version isn't immediately a heretic (as a person I know has called a dear man of God I know who just so happens to use a NKJV).

In both the KJV and the NIV, the passage is speaking of the planet Venus, who the Babylonians believed was the god Heylel, son of Shahar (the dawn). Both "morning star" and "Lucifer" are alternate names for Venus.

Then read Revelation 22:16 in your NIV who is Jesus say he is?
In both the KJV and the NIV, Christ calls himself the morning star in Rev 22:16. In both the KJV and the NIV, there are other morning stars in Job 38:7.

So obviously the term "morning star" can have multiple meanings, depending on context. To accuse the NIV of some sort of blasphemy here is as ridiculous as accusing the KJV of blasphemy for calling Satan a lion in 1 Pet 5:8 and Christ a lion in Rev 5:5.

To me, it means the KJV is the only one I use.

It does NOT mean that it is the only word of God, it does NOT mean that non_KJVOs are wrong, it does NOT mean that I think that other languages should have their Bibles translated from the KJV, I do NOT believe the KJV was "re-inspired" and I am NOT a Ruckmanite!!!

OTOH, I think that the anti-KJV crowd can be just as ignorant, at times. I have seen some pretty wacky things said from both camps.

It means that the others are lacking the salinity the KJV has.

Yes, the KJV is guilty of salty language at times. Just see 2 Kings 18:27, for example.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up what I consider KJV-onlyism: causing confusion and dissension amongst Christian believers by casting doubt on the Word of God. Like the serpent in the Garden, hissing "Yea, hath God said?" the KJV-onlyists blaspheme Holy Scripture by claiming it is not truly God-breathed.

Shameful.

Ah, so by that definition I am KJV-only even though I read, study, and teach from an NASB!
