Hey Pastor L~ What I read was this: "The King James translators were led by the Holy Spirit of God . . .

Do you have any reason we should believe this is not equally true of the translators of the NIV?

Hey Gumbo, what book, chapter and verse states this? Or is it extrabiblical?

Uh oh..my MV Bible doesn't have that book. I guess that is where some of the 64,000 missing words comes from! ;)

I receive blessings many ways every day, but I do not receive a blessing from "some other book", but from God's perfect word, the Bible, be it ESV, NASB, or NKJV.</font>
I agree Brother. I used to use only the KJV, but attended some services in other churches where the NIV was used. I was just as blessed by the preaching and application of God's Word to my life in those services as I was in any service using the KJV. I still use my KJV, and find comfort in it, too. The church I now attend uses the NIV, and some speakers use the NASB. I love them all. God can use any one of them to bless, guide, and to lead people to Himself.

I am a KJB/KJV person.
As am I. But I also use other versions.

As for the cults, I find it interesting while studying with them that they always went to the other versions. after we got saved and started using the KJB/KJV, they pointed out that it was the only Bible that had those verses and diffences of words in it.
I gave three examples of cults that use the KJV- the largest one being KJVO. What cults are you talking about? You suggested that cults use MV's to develop their false doctrines. I am interested in seeing how.

And who did count all those words? Whether it is an actual or rounded number, it is still quite the spanse of margins.
Good question. Also, I wonder if they are counting actual words or typing words (5 keys equals one word). If the later then much of the difference would be made up by "eth"s, "est"s, and the use of "thou", "thee", etc.

I believe in the inerrent inspired Word of God, and that now is translated into the KJB.
As do I and many others here. The difference is that we recognize that the Word of God is not limited to one English translation.

I believe that Satan has altered the other text that are missing those words, and just enough to start putting cracks into the foundations of Christain doctrines in the future.
You are free to believe what you want, with or without evidence. The problem comes in when you would demand that everyone else agree with you... without evidence.

Granny,

Sounds like you think the KJV translators received some sort of special revelation. I find no biblical basis for that and since the Bible is our final authority, I think you must admit there is no biblical basis for it as well.

My good ol'KJBible don't leave neree a drop of that precious Life-giving Flow out of it's preserved & inspired Words. Depending on which MV is your choice, can you boast as well?
No MV leaves "neree a drop" out. The doctrine of the blood atonement is explicit in the MVs, even in teh much malinged passage in Col 1. The "Grand Conspiracy" to take the blood out missed v. 20 where he made peace through teh blood of his cross. These arguments, when compared to the text, fall on their face.

I stated what I believed and some of why I believe, but I don't believe that I demanded anyone to believe how I believe, even though you believe I demanded you all to believe how I believe? :eek: :confused: :D :cool:

Brother, how pious of you to call what someone else uses, be it the NIV, ESV, NASB, RSV or others, just another book. Who set you up to be the judge of whether or not the KJV is the only word of God? You've come on here spouting you're not KJVO, but that's the only thing you use. Well, then what would you call it? You've got a site for the KJV Defender Award, and diss anyone who uses another translation of the Bible. Your attempted indication that the KJV is God's ONLY version is not acceptable to many people, and I happen to be one of them. Many have been led to Christ through the ministry of the other versions. Also, I believe it was Christ who said in Luke 9:50 "And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us." I, too, as one other has already stated in this thread, believe there was an alterior motive in your posting this thread, and it is a divisive one at that.

Oh, you have access to the Book of Life, does you? Why not just tell us whether we're in it or not, then we can all stop this caterwallin'. {Of course, that particular book may not be entirely true, since only the KJV holds that position, right?}

I rarely crack a KJV but most of my memoriza-
tion--no, ALL of it--is from the KJV. I am cer-
tainly not one to espouse the idea that it is
easier to memorize; I believe that is the result of
what we are used to. I had attended a KJVO
church for 50 years, so it was what I knew.

I have no problem with KJVO people, unless
they go so far as to base salvation and/or
personal righteousness upon it. I enjoy reading
from many versions and comparing them.

Although I have taken Greek (eons ago) and
Hebrew (more recently), I am not proficient in
either language; still, I enjoy reading the Scrip-
tures in them, especially in Hebrew.

</font>
It was this kind of comment by a liberal at the 2000 SBC that drew national attention to the lack of respect for God's Word. While many liberals and KJVOs share common beliefs about the Bible (lack of "originals," questioning the validity of God's Word, questioning the existence of a sure word of God, et.al.), I'm giving Sam the benefit of the doubt that he is not calling the Bible "just another book." I certainly hope no one on here would be so callous as to do that.

What other books are called Life besides the 'Book of' Life?

Hmmm~now WHY would ya need to ask whether or not yur in it?

Because it's a very suspect [that means phony] Book of Life if it's in your possession.

It is true there is only one Book of Life, and it neither has nor needs any translation effort, but the same cannot be said for any translation of scripture.

Justified, if these statements were not intended to establish the KJV as the only doctrinally sound Bible and, by extension, that anyone using another version is at minimum "on shaky ground" then I apologize.

Just for the record. It is my firm opinion that none of the sound evangelical scholars of our day are KJVO. At the same time, many KJVO's are drifting toward false doctrines.

</font>
I think you could say no sound evangelical scholar of ANY DAY has been KJVO.

There were some (Burgon/Dabney) who opposed some of the changes of the Westcott and Hort Greek text..but that (IMHO) is a far cry from claiming the KJV is the ONLY inspired, inerrant English translation.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
