Dr. Shultz should have read his scripture. Maybe he wouldn’t be a Know Nothing, wise in his own conceits.
“For I, brethren, would not have you be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits: that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.”
We have been evangelising the Jews hard for 2000 years with limited success.
Sometimes it’s wiser to give a recalcitrant child some space and back off.
The Jews and especially ardent rabbinical Jews feel totally under siege by the monolithic monster of Christianity, they have dug in even deeper. Hang around them a bit and very quickly you understand the mentality. Evangelising them only hardens their resolve.
Rabbinical Judaism is itself a reaction to Christianity, think about it.
Some are taught to not even look at a gentile lest they be the crack that eventually destroys their culture and people, some spit passing a gentile. Not kidding here.
And God forbid you marry a non Jew, Oi says the Rabbi. You don’t know drama and consternation by halves, wailing and shirt tearing like the first born died in a brothel.
If people back off, the Jews will emerge from their trenches and strong points. First out of curiosity at the aromas of the fatted calf, then out of jealousy and then out of fear of missing out.
Let the tantalising aromas of the banquet gently waft over them from a comfortable distance, eventually they will be standing next to you, bathed and ready for supper.
I watched my Jewish friends even secular Jews among them sing the Nishmat Kol Chai song, they were all singing it with eyes closed with great passion and longing. And none of them knew it was an ancient Christian prayer of Praise to God.
So I am heartened by this and I know that in God’s Love and timing, they will come home.
You go to them with a hard selling, all American, Bible thumpin, they’ll kick you in the groin and punch your teeth out, and I wouldn’t blame them.
