Unless one knows for certianty one's own salvation, one is just playing religion.
The Apostle John writes Christians that they can know, 1 John 5:9-13. And writes everyone so that they can know, John 20:31.
God is knowable. And of course, on His terms, John 7:17.
Four things to consider:
1. We need to believe God and His word. Titus 1:2.
2. God sent His Son into the human race to live and die on the behalf of us.
Taking on our sin and guilt.
3. As evidence that God did this through His Son, His Son was raised from the dead bodily. The witness of this is the Christian New Testament.
4. The promise is the complete and full forgiveness, ". . . their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." -- Hebrews 10:17 (Jeremiah 31:31-34).
