Lack of Motivation and Endurance

I want to get back into computer programming, and to learn the features of Java I don't know, and to build software in the language. Although a long time ago, trying to learn Java quickly, I read through several Java trails in one day, I probably did not learn everything I read, but managed to learn a number of the language’s features and APIs. More recently, I have read several Java trails and applied them, each in one or two days, seeming to lack the endurance to learn multiple trails a day. Oftentimes, I lack the drive to even read one Java trail.

What is your purpose?
What are your goals for achieving your purpose?
What are your deadlines for achieving your goals?

If your purpose is of no value, it will not drive you to achieve. Be sure that what you want to accomplish is worthwhile.
Goals are necessary. It sounds like you have some already.
Deadlines keep you on track. Some people are more motivated by deadlines than others. A deadline only has as much weight as you give it.

Find someone who is motivated to do the same thing. A friend who enjoys talking about what you are doing will increase your desire and interest also. Your mind will be sharpened by the desire to keep up with someone else.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
