The landline comes in handy when I have misplaced my cell!
IF I have a situation with the cell, I call the cell company on the landline....
has come in very handy and the price is not bad - as I get a
"group" rate with my internet.

The Landline is like the Old Covenant, it has been rendered obsolete, and is going away, but many older folks still have landlines for business purpose as well as cell phones for private and emergency use.

Some hotels operate their elevators through a phone app, and those without "smart phones" must wait for someone with a phone to utilize the elevator. :)

Most of my neighbors have true landlines. We have a "landline" through the internet as we don't have cell service.

Lots of places in my community where cell coverage has never existed.

First landline was run up here in the late 60s.

Electricity arrived in 1960, so the arrival of electricity is within living memory and many of my older friends spent decades growing up without power. A neighbor of mine actually cut trees off the mountain to run the first power line up the mountain to our county.
