I have always felt that Ms. Bush is a classy lady. This, to me, is more evidence of that class.

Describing her husband as "very gracious," former first lady Laura Bush said he would maintain his silence on the policies and practices of the Obama administration.

"George feels like, as a former president, that he owes President Obama his silence on issues, and that there's no reason to second-guess any decisions that he makes," Mrs. Bush said of former President George W. Bush in an interview broadcast Monday on ABC's 'Good Morning America.'

At the same time, Mrs. Bush said she understood why former Vice President Dick Cheney has been so vocal and critical of President Barack Obama and his policies -- particularly on national security matters.
"I think that's his right as a citizen of the U.S., and I think he also feels obligated," the former first lady said.

On another matter, Mrs. Bush had kind words for Obama's selection of Sonia Sotomayor for the U.S. Supreme Court.
"She sounds like a very interesting and good nominee ... I wish her well," Mrs. Bush said.

The former first lady also took a sanguine view of the Republican infighting in the wake of the November elections in which the GOP fared badly. Such party bickering, she said, is "probably not that bad. It's like creative tension within a party."

Anyone who is married to and supports the devil incarnate can't be all that classy, can she?

I do think she has a lot of class. It seems a bit strange but thinking back over the president of my lifetime it seems that most of their wives had more class than they did. Wonder why?

Are you serious??? *shaking head and walking away*
Ann, I was employing some sarcasm to point out CTB's inconsistency. I don't think GWB is the devil incarnate, but CTB does - based on the accusations he has made against the former President. Therefore, I can't see how a woman could be considered classy by marrying and supporting such an evil man (according to CTB).

I fail to follow the logic that because I think G. Bush made some terrible mistakes during his 8 years as president that I should dislike Laura Bush. That makes no sense to me.

Actually I do not hate or particularly dislike G. Bush as a person. But I do think he was a bad president. To dislike a person is one thing. To disagree with a person's decisions is another thing. The two are not the same at all.

I think G. Bush would be a good fellow as a friend. He has a sense of humor. He seems to enjoy talking to people. As a friend I think he would be fun to be around.

Same with S. Palin. I think she would be the life of a party and lots of fun to be around ... but I do not want her as VP or President.

Ahhh - gotcha. Whew! Thanks for clarifying.

CTB, you have accused Bush of essentially murder with the Iraq War. Now you are trying to make him sound like a he'd be a good time at a barbecue.

I think he would be a good fellow at a barbecue. I just think he made some terrible mistakes as president. A person can be a good guy to be around and as the same time can be a person who has made terrible mistakes.

Simply because I may not agree with a person does not mean that I dislike them ... I simply disagree with them on various issues.

Well, it appears that you have toned down your rhetoric against GWB. I recall earlier posts of yours that accused GWB of more than just "making mistakes."

Sadly, many cannot fathom that distinction, as evidenced by the relentless attacks on the person of our current President.

What is sad is dishonest posts like this that work to ignore and rewrite history of the liberal posts on this board. We all know what they are. Get real.

An attack like this?
"Bush, Bush, Bushie goodbye,
Bush, Bush, Bushie don't cry.
The aeroplane that takes you away from D.C.
no words can tell how happy it makes me.
Later, Bushie and then,
Don't want to see you again.
Watch for the subpoena,
Hope they put you on trial,
Or maybe we will let you go
And stay in denial.
Bush, Bush Bushie don't cry.
Bush, Bush, Bushie goodbye!"

MP, you were among the worst on the board at personal attacks when it was the former president, so your comments here ring a bit hollow, as you probably already know and were hoping no one would point out.

Now put up or shut up...I made no bones about the fact that I believe he acted criminally and that I disagreed with him vehemently on policy. I never attacked the man personally to my recollection.

Your recollection is faulty. You accused him of being a liar multiple times, among other things. Calling him a criminal was not only devoid of any factual reality as everyone knows, but it was also a personal attack. Again, you have been caught on your own charges. The paper trail is huge for you.

It is not his recollection that is faulty, but his integrity.

Again where is your evidence.

Also, Bush did lie, that is factual. I never said he is a pathological liar, but that he lied to Congress and the nation. Remember that little thing about the "yellow cake"? About the WMD? The ever shifting rationale for the illegal Bush invasion of Iraq?
