Where it you get the idea the ability to amass copious amounts of money is not a strong merit?
LOL

What makes you think all US Christians have the same skin color?I double dog dare you to try to use the Bible to justify a Christian treating a person as a second-class citizen based on skin color.
What makes you think all US Christians have the same skin color?
Can't respond? How do you think President Trump got elected? Could it have something to do with the fact he is worth somewhere in the vicinity of 10 billion dollars? That little fact seems to have merited him the White House. Duh!
Can't respond?
It's a fairly obvious point: just because something was legal then doesn't mean it should be now, and vice versaSo what if slavery was legal?
Neither can two divorced peopleNot the same, as 2 men cannot have a valid mariage in eyes of God!
Nor is it gender specific, nor heritage specific, nor is it ethnicity specific.Christian behavior is not country specific.
How is that Lily White church of yours doing?
Your point was decrying immigrant groups who refuse to "assimilate"; I gave you the Amish as the example par excellence of such a groupThe last time I checked, Amish were not blowing up buildings and behanding people for jesus!
I have no bitterness or bigotry towards you. I was simply pointing out the absurd incongruity of a descendant of immigrants complaining about legal immigration to the US. Obviously I inadvertently triggered you for which I apologiseLOL! ROFLOL! My father immigrated to the US when he was 14, in 1924. He came with his father, Francisco de la Mora who was born in Mexico City, and his mother, Ida May Dudley, born in Derrygonnelly, county Fermanagh, in the lake country of Northern Ireland. They met and married in Toronto, Canada.
My paternal ancestry dates back over 1000 years here in Hidalgo/Tamaulipas. So put your bigoty and hatred away and just accept the facts instead of your bitterness over the colonials kicking you to the curb and running you off the continent and back to your pathetic island of clerks and shop keepers.
Well, Duh! That is the whole point. This country is in dire need of immigration reform. Our present immigration law is based on the Immigration Act of 1924. Migration patterns have changed a lot since then and the old laws just don't work any more. Thanks for reinforcing then that it's not about the legality of the immigration.
Money talks again. I wonder what the Apostle James would have made of such shenanigans by the rich and powerfulWhere it you get the idea the ability to amass copious amounts of money is not a strong merit?
I don't think that was the point he was makingWhat makes you think all US Christians have the same skin color?
So you are not a supporter of the merit-based immigration idea. I will try to keep that in mind.
Your post #95 brought up the subject of Christians and skin color.I don't get what point you are making in the context of this thread.
I don't think that was the point he was making
And this is the heart of the problem when it comes to "chain immigration.""What skills can the immigrant bring to the country?"is the question that should be asked, not, "does this person have relatives we've already admitted to the country?"
I agree too. And that is one of the reasons I think the government should get out of the marriage business altogether.Same-sex marriage is not legitimate. We agree.
What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. It's not particularly nice to attack anyone's family but that doesn't hold people back hereIt's not nice to attack the President's family.
