How long were you a black man living in the south in the 1960s?Remind me how that policy worked out in the Deep South prior to the 1960s if you were a black man...

How long were you a black man living in the south in the 1960s?Remind me how that policy worked out in the Deep South prior to the 1960s if you were a black man...
Okay. Stop it. Now. Enough is enough.Show me where I said "in this thread"
Are you seriously suggesting that the American Colonies had no culture of their ownNow Matt, I realize this is difficult for you, but think about it for a minute. How could they assimilate into a country/culture that did not exist, and would not exist for another 50 years? And when that country/culture finally came into existence would it not be incumbent on the new country/culture to assimilate into those already there, namely the Amish?
What the heck has that got to do with the question? A question which I note you won't answerHow long were you a black man living in the south in the 1960s?
More than happy to. It's only a side point to start with and not worth dying in a ditch overOkay. Stop it. Now. Enough is enough.
Read your own post #120. "It's not particularly nice to attack anyone's family but that doesn't hold people back here."More than happy to. It's only a side point to start with and not worth dying in a ditch over
It's not particularly nice to attack anyone's family but that doesn't hold people back here
It worked out just fine. African Americans now own those businesses. What the heck has that got to do with the question? A question which I note you won't answer
You are aware, are you not, that the United States did not become an independent country until the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776? There was noting to assimilate to!Are you seriously suggesting that the American Colonies had no culture of their own
What's your evidence? Even if accurate, that would not have happened had the government now outlawed discrimination in the way you decry. And it's scant comfort to those blacks who died before Jim Crow was outlawedIt worked out just fine. African Americans now own those businesses.
So, no Colonial governments, no Colonial culture? You are aware, are you not, that the United States did not become an independent country until the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776? There was noting to assimilate to!
Uh, I look around. I live here, remember? I see African American owned businesses every day. In fact I patronize them every day. What's your evidence?
The government had nothing to do with the cultural evolution of the US. It was the people.Even if accurate, that would not have happened had the government now outlawed discrimination in the way you decry.
How many African Americans do you know who died trying to buy or sell their goods or services? And it's scant comfort to those blacks who died before Jim Crow was outlawed
Colonial government was English. Colonial culture was English. So, no Colonial governments, no Colonial culture?
The government had nothing to do with the cultural evolution of the US. It was the people.
I have to admit I am troubled by your (Matt's - Ken posted between Matt's post and my reply) insistence that African Americans lacked the ability and will to achieve great progress on their own but insist that they had to sit in the lap of the government (made up of old white men, remember) in order to achieve anything.
Why is it that liberals always want to take credit for the efforts and sacrifices of others?
That is true. The Democrats in the south threw up every roadblock imaginable against the civil rights movement. But ultimately it was the people themselves who brought about the change. "We Shall Overcome" was not only a theme, but a promise.Removing government sponsored discrimination is not sitting in the lap of government. It is the removal of government imposed restraints.
Matt, unfortunately, a log of conservatives in the United States use a large amount of what aboutism and deflection in debate.
I double dog dare you to try to use the Bible to justify a Christian treating a person as a second-class citizen based on skin color.
Stupidest post ever.
No, it is clearly the other way around. In order for him to do as you ask he would have to believe that a Christian should treat a person as a second-class citizen based on skin color. As nobody in this thread has advocated doing any such thing your question was clearly a diversion which you so eloquently accused others of doing in your earlier post.Nope. You just painted yourself into a corner and have no way out except to admit defeat.
