Laying on hands for healing

I agree but IMO a few have tried to use this verse to manipulate God. Everything still must be done according to His will and purpose. A preacher during the 50's and 60's Would command God to heal people on TV. These same verses were repeated many times before he would do his healing thing. I was just a kid at the time but even I knew he was as false as they come.

James stated to us to have the Elders lay hands on the sick and anoint with oil....
remember the jokers that had one to just reach out and touch the tv screen in order to receive the healing!

THAT is why Benny Hinn has that hair of his!

Well I'm all for prayer and healing and I'm sure that others pray for others as I do, but it is The Holy Spirit which I am doing an intense study on now that does the work and I leave it in his hands... This is also in the Baptist Theology & Bible Study so I am addressing only Baptist, weather this loving act of devotion was done in our Baptist Church, I don't know... I was never involved, so I can't say what others do and I cannot say it is right or wrong but my question is this within the Baptist brethren wouldn't this practice be walking a fine line of being deemed Bapticostal?... What is the difference of laying hands on here than in an ordination of a preacher or a deacon?... The unction, leading and help of The Holy Spirit is requested in both settings... Brother Glen:)

A lady in our church insists we do so for her.
She told me that at another church - the pastor laid hands on her ears - and her ear ache went away.

So Salty, you never said if you did it or not and what was the result?... Brother Glen:)

Btw... What is the difference of having two people hold hands (you could do that in the past) and have one pray for the other one?... You don't know that just now I prayed for Salty, it was an internet prayer!

Nope - have not done so yet.
But if she insists - then we will have nice little talk first......

What are you thoughts about laying on hands for healing.
I have done it with others and have seen healing. I don't initiate it unless I feel the urge of the Spirit, nor do I participate if I have doubts about whether or not God wants to heal. (James 5:14-15) One cannot pray in faith that God will do something if you don't know His will.

So, should we participate in such a ceremony?
If you sense the unction of the Spirit.

If so, what should be done prior to such a service?
Walk in the Spirit and learn to comprehend the voice of God. Paul prayed before he asked God to heal, and that seems to be a sensible thing to do. (Acts 28:8-9)

James 5 disagrees with you!
I have seen the Old Regular Baptist / Regular Primitive Baptist lay hands on the sick my entire life , they will do it at the home of the sick[ if called for ]or in the opening or closing of their Church Services. They do not ask if their is anyone who would like it done or form lines etc... but they will lay, hands on anyone who asks the Elder to.
