"A new leak of secret intelligence documents obtained by Al Jazeera shows that the Mossad expressed the belief that Tehran was not pursuing a nuclear weapon just a month after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Islamic Republic was a year away from becoming nuclear-armed."

"The documents, spanning the period of 2006-2014, were written by members of South Africa's State Security Agency (SSA). The documents, according to Al Jazeera, highlight the SSA's dealings with the intelligence services of its allies, including the Mossad and the CIA....."

An Iran that is not a huge threat to Israel simply does not fit Netanyahu's agenda ... so ignore it and on with politics that suits him and his supporters ... not the first prime minister or president do so this type of thing.

Just like the Constitution does not fit Obama's agenda so he ignores it!

From the article: The network did not give further details on the document detailing the Mossad's view on Iran's nuclear aspirations.

The official Mossad finding, or the opinions of elements within the Mossad?

So it all comes down to Al Jazeera's word for it.

Everyone knows al jazeera is totally trustworthy.
Wait....should I not be depending on al Jazeera for my news???? Dang it!!!! I knew I should be watching The Onion!

Seriously, why do I have al Jazeera on my directv? Does anyone really watch it? I would think they could put on another "shopping network" and get better ratings

When Bebe was at AIPAC this morning he polled some of the states to see how many were from each state. Generally the answer was applause. When BeBe got to Kentucky, no applause, but I thought I heard a lonely voice cry out: "I'm with you BeBe, they ran me out of Bloody Breathitt, but I'm with you!"

Of course, according to the article, it's hearsay anyway. The info supposedly is coming from South African security agencies.

Mossad has repeatedly said that Iran is building a nuclear bomb. The only differences with Netanyahu are about when it will happen.

It'll happen even faster if Obama has anything to say about it.

http://www.timesofisrael.com/mossad-cables-prove-hardly-contradictory/

The Mossad, which intelligence historian and reporter Yossi Melman aptly noted on twitter is not on close terms with its South African counterpart, and therefore does not share with it sensitive information, does not substantively contradict Netanyahu’s statement.

It wrote that “Iran continues to improve its enrichment abilities and is even liable to advance them significantly” once the then-new centrifuges were put into service. It assessed that Iran is “making efforts” to put the IR40 reactor in Arak into operation, which is “expected to produce enough military-grade plutonium for one bomb per year”

“In the area of nuclear of weapons,” the report stated, “there is continued R&D activity at SPND, under the Iranian Defense Ministry, which we understand is intended for accumulating know-how and creating an organizational framework [which] it will be able to make use of to produce nuclear fuel, when the order is given.”

And finally, the full passage from which the quote was cherry picked: “Bottom line: Though Iran at this stage is not performing the activity necessary to produce weapons, it is working to close gaps in areas that appear legitimate such as enrichment, reactors, which will reduce the time required to produce weapons from the time the instruction is actually given.”

In other words, Netanyahu and the Mossad agree that Iran is in pursuit of a bomb and is continually closing in on that objective; that it has advanced on two tracks, uranium and plutonium; and that it has amassed enough five-percent-enriched uranium for several bombs, some of which has been further enriched to 20%. The only disunity between the two assessments regards the rate of enrichment.

In other words, the discrepancy does not revolve around the fundamental issue of whether Iran is, in fact, “performing the activity necessary to produce weapons,” as stated, but rather around the speed with which such action is being taken.

In other words, the headlines in the OP is a load of poop. Mossad does not "contradict" Netanyahu at all.

End of story.

Yeah, just more hearsay from the other side. This is what AJ says SA said about Mossad.

It's reasonable to assume most of this disinformation coming out about Iran/Israel/US is rooted in the upcoming Israeli elections.

The name "Meir Dagan" is mentioned in K's article . . . this guy used to head up Mossad for years, then he was either fired or so disgusted he quit under Bibi a few years ago due to policy differences. Now Dagan is out campaigning against Bibi, and so is Obama. Dagan used to be a formidable figure in Mossad and he was no liberal, a ruthless assassin at the time.

Dagan has also said that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. He just differs on when he thinks they will have them.
