Leave Limbaugh’s Addiction Alone!

I wrote a piece this week for The FOX Forum about President Obama’s excellent housing plan. The piece received hundreds of comments — most of them negative. That’s fine. As a liberal, my writing seems to stimulate the right to have at me. I’m a big boy and can handle criticism. But personal attacks are not criticism, they are unnecessary and offensive. A few personal comments this week (as has been the case in previous writings) were not directed at me but at Rush Limbaugh’s struggle with pain pills.......

..............I appreciate your support for my positions but I’d rather have no support than contribute to attacks on Rush Limbaugh or any other addict. Long after I stop being a political commentator I will still be a recovering alcoholic. This much I can tell you — political commentary will never kill me but a return to drinking almost certainly will. To those who read this and are struggling with addiction there is help available. Seek it now and begin the journey toward a new life. There is hope.

Rush is a VERY vocal opponet of medical marijuana. He does not get a free pass on his own drug abuse.

How is one related to the other. And what does it mean he does not get a free pass?

You must be years behind on the news. Rush didn't get a free pass on drug abuse. He paid the price for it ... perhaps a greater price than you would have paid for the same situation.

Please stay up on the news so you don't embarrass yourself like this again.

I see Rush has someone here to do his bidding. If you criticize Rush, your posts are subject to being deleted without any reason. So much for Christian fairness. Now if I had posted the same things about Obama, the posts would be here for all to see!

No, you brought up issues of sexuality that are forbidden from discussion in open forums, and you brought up issues that are off topic. When you do wrong and are harshly treated, that is no credit to you (to borrow from someone else).

I would have been fired...
Yes, as a pastor, I would have been too. But most secular jobs do not fire people on the first offense. Most courts do not give first time offenders the treatment Rush got.

So, are you accusing PL of working for Rush Limbaugh? Are you accusing him of dishonesty?

Please clarify.

Addiction to pain pills after radical back surgery can happen to anyone. Becoming addicted to illegal drugs is a character flaw by choice.

Your posts were off topic and concerned human sexuality which is why they were deleted as explained to you in a PM. Let it drop.

Yes, maybe everyone should leave Rush Limbaugh alone. The man didn't even know how to perform a search in a PDF document. It's not like anyone should be taking him seriously in a discussion of substance.

The article in the op was written by a confessed liberal and it was quite specific to his prescription drug addiction.
