Fasting can be a very importing time in our Christian life!

Fast and Fasting occur over 100 times in the KJV!
Now true fasting is much different than comtenpoary lent practices!

Your statement is true only if you demonstrate that practicing fasting during the Lenten season is wrong. Many of us (churches and individuals) do it with the right Spirit and focus.

I never said that fasting is wrong (during lent)
The point is: what is the movivation?
I agree when you stated "...do it with the right spirit..."

If that is the caveat, then EVERY religious practice (worship, communion, baptism, preaching, witnessing, pastoring, etc.) is wrong if is done with the wrong motivation -- discussing Lenten customs is somewhat irrelevant with that context.

I think you you have a point:
Why did you get baptized - "because all the other teens did"

Why did you take communion "because I didnt want to be singled out

Why did you pass out those Bible tracts - "I didnt want the preacher to mention my name in the Evening service"

Why did you say you would teach that class "because I wanted to be a deacon, and teaching a class would help me become one.

So, should we do something - for the wrong reason?
