Yes, I specified the Tesla Superchargers.there are different kinds/ sizes of chargers.
I don't know about you, but I am not required to have houseguests. If my houseguests have an electric car or plug-in hybrid, my expectation of a houseguest is that they would ask for permission to charge their vehicle. If they do not, then they won't be my houseguest ever again. But it should be your choice.
The question seems to pre-suppose that the houseguests don't realize that electricity doesn't have a cost, and that they don't know what it would typically cost to charge their vehicle.
The question is really about inconsiderate guests, not EVs.
My brother has a Tesla, and when he went to visit my mother last January, he charged his vehicle at the local Tesla Supercharger station. He drove the car from Georgia to Texas and back and made one stop each way at a Supercharger station in Alabama -- the car charged while he made a restroom break and had a bite to eat. He previously charged at home and charged at a Supercharger station in Houston before he made his return trip.
It wasn't a big deal, but the massive anxiety over EVs perpetuated by right-wing media and unfamiliarity with the technology has caused a lot of people to have BIG FEELINGS over electric vehicles.
Just a few years ago, the same kind of anxiety existed over hybrid vehicles around here. That has calmed down because of familiarity with the technology and the shift of right-wing media to create fear over full EVs.
