If Ed Gillespie becomes the next governor of Virginia, Confederate flag-waving racists will feel emboldened to run down minority kids with their pick-up trucks.

That’s the message of a new ad put out by the left-wing group Latino Victory Fund. The over-the-top, fear-mongering commercial tries to tie the milquetoast Republican Gillespie with the white nationalists who rallied in Charlottesville two months ago.

The ad features a scary pick-up truck — complete with a massive Confederate flag, Gillespie sticker, and “Don’t Tread on Me” tags — chasing after a diverse group of kids playing in a suburb. Fortunately, it turns out it was just a nightmare, but that nightmare is the American Dream for Gillespie and his supporters, according to the ad.

The commercial ends with a Latino family watching the Charlottesville torchlight rally, which is somehow connected with the Gillespie campaign.

Making such an ad would have been considered too ridiculous in years past, but 2017 is a different age. While this ad is not the direct creation of Ralph Northam’s campaign (Gillespie’s opponent), it is in keeping with the Democrat’s current message.

The Democratic Party of Virginia sent out mailers linking Gillespie to Charlottesville and racists last week. The Latino Victory Fund ad is just a more extreme version of that line of attack.

It appears Democrats believe this is the winning message that will give them the edge against Gillespie.

Due to the uproar, they have pulled the ad.

It would have helped Gillespie even more if they had continued to run it.

Uproar due to the similarity of the commercial's storyline to the terrorist act in Manhattan yesterday? Or uproar over the ad in general that predated yesterday's attack?
(It's a terrible ad.)

Not sure. They were dumb enough to run it in the first p[lace, so they don't think like normal people in the first place.

Gillespie: Online Donations Have ‘Tripled’ After People Were ‘Disgusted’ by Controversial Latino Victory Fund Ad

Virginia's Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie told the Daily Caller's Vince Coglianese on Tuesday that his online donations have tripled since the Latino Victory Fund released an ad depicting Gillespie supporters as racists.

The progressive political action committee released an ad on Monday showing a man driving a pick-up truck with a Gillespie campaign sticker, a Tea Party license plate, and a Confederate flag on the back as he chases down a pair of Latino boys, an African-American boy, and a Muslim girl wearing a hijab.

Northam's polling must really be bad, this ad was so over the top I found it funny. It touched ever left-wing stereotype out there - angry white man in a pickup truck, Gadsen flag, Gillespie sticker and all. Nice neighborhood, innocent little children of color playing outside in harmony til the mean old white redneck starts gunning for them - Ed Gillespie wants to KILL them by running them over just like that guy in Charlottesville. The kids run for their lives, speaking in English the whole time but to no avail - the mean old white redneck corners them!

But wait . . . it's only a nightmare . . . for now. Could it become a reality if Ed actually pulls off an upset? Better get to the polls multiple times just in case!

Racial pandering, fear mongering, offensive stereotypes, yep, that's the Democrat Party of Virginia. A Republican hasn't won anything there in several years but this ad alone just may reverse that.

This was put out by a Latino group. There is another Latino group called La Raza (the race). If a group of white people tried to se the name "the race", liberals would be jumping and screaming about them being racists.

Today's the big day in Virginia and New Jersey, for anybody who lives there, how's it going in the gubernatorial races? I'd guess the Democrat to replace Crispy and the Republican to replace McAwful, but you never know in these odd year polls.

After last year's election I don't think you can rely on any poll that's isn't at least a 5 point lead. I do have a feeling that Gillespie is going to win. He's got some late momentum. I've got to believe NJ will go Dem.

Yeah, I saw that:he did not embrace me or what I stand for. Well, kick 'em when they're down Donald.

This is why the left and neverTrumpers like Ed claim Trump is a narcissist - it's always about him, can't be Ed ran an uninspired campaign (again) or that Ralph was in tun with the voters. No, it's that Ed didn't fall all over Donald Trump.

Who knows, maybe he would have won if he had let Trump campaign for him, but it's doubtful. Polling was pretty spot on this time, another rather vicious campaign in Virginia again. Who did you go with, if you don't mind me asking? From the other coast, both of them looked boring and low-energy like Jeb did in the primary. Winner looks better than the predecessor to me.

Any state that voted in AcAuliffe, has to have a lot of voters that lack good sense.

Northam at least went to my alma mater (VMI) and served as Honor Court President which you don’t get without the full respect of the Corps of Cadets. I suspect he’ll be better and less caustic than Terry Mac.
