This is new doctrine to me.

Yes, the second and third soils of Matthew 13 partially accepted the gospel, soil #2 superficially and when the going got tough, he split. Soil #3, did not toss out worldly treasures and they in turn choked out his devotion and commitment to Christ. Neither were transferred into Christ and indwelt, thus teaching we should go "all in" for Christ.

Limited Free will springs from our limited spiritual ability, our soul liberty to choose to believe in Christ. We can understand the milk of the gospel and be "persuaded" to believe wholeheartedly in Christ, or we can reject Him or only partially accept Him.

Who advocates a limited free will? How is it defined?

How is it off topic? It is the very title of the thread, and you referenced it in the post I quoted. What is limited free will and who advocates for it? I am trying to understand your positions here. That's not off topic, it's not a deflection.

Repeatedly in our debates the only one who actually deflects is you and this is another prime example.

Where was the personal insult and attack? I was not off topic, asked a legitimate question. You are attacking a non-attack. Nor did I insult you. If you were insulted by what I said that is your own problem.

Our ability to make choices from among various options can be restricted by God for His purpose, thus the Biblical doctrine is "Limited Free Will."

Romans 9:16 teaches men can will and work to be saved, thus total spiritual inability as the result of the Fall is shown to be mistaken doctrine.

This view differs from the doctrine of soul slavery, where we can only make choices other than the will of God. It is a form of Soul Liberty, and Limited Spiritual Ability.

How, in your view, does this one single verse teach men can will and work to be saved? The verse itself says it depends on God, not man.

They never will because it is not their will or desire because of their bondage to and love of sin. They exercise their free will to do anything but love God.

By the way, when interpreting a verse, it usually helps to read the entire context and not take one verse OUT of context.

1) Why did Jesus speak in parables in Matthew 13, if the lost could not hear and understand the milk of the gospel?
2) Why did God harden the hearts of the disbelieving Jews in Romans 11, if they were already unable to respond to the gospel.

The answer is they had limited free will, and therefore God took action to preclude those affected from believing at that time, to further His redemption plan, of presenting the gospel first to the Jew, then to the Gentiles.
