Balderdash. The "Safe Act" did nothing. You failed to respond to my points as to how having 7 rounds in a clip instead of 15 was responsible for the drop in murders, or how banning the so called "assault rifles" helped in any way. Like I said, the law called for the re-registering of pistols that were already registered, how in heavens name did that have any effect? Answer: NONE!
In Chicago, Illinois which has massive gun controls they are killing each other left and right, while in the neighboring states like Wisconsin and Indiana where there are plenty of guns around and less gun laws there is not the same amount of killings. Proof once again that it is not the guns, or gun control laws, it's the type of people who live in a particular area that are the problem.
As for your poverty argument, we had the Great Depression here in America in the 1930's, the people were just as poor yet there was nowhere near the killings that there are today. What was the difference? Intact families and a belief in God and His commandments. Today thanks to Democrat/Liberal/Progressive policies God is out of the picture and welfare payments have replaced fathers who used to take care of their families.

The immigrants work harder than the natives typically. It's the government cut backs which are the problem: cut public spending on law enforcement by 18% and then whine about crime rates
That's it! The need to ban guns now!
London needs to pay more of their own law enforcement expenses. Don't depend on the central government to do it all. Quit whining and pay up.

The problem is that the central government funds 77 per cent of the law enforcement budget for London. Time for London to pay it's own way and stop whining.

Considering the differences in the two systems, to me the question is how much is the gentleman's bail? Or is bail even allowed in a case like this? Is the bail something like 10 pounds?
Might be much less killings, as a raptist/murdering facing down with someone with a Dirty harry Pistol can be quite daunting!
Like here, there is just too much that the central government has to pay for. I would bet that it costs a pretty penny to give everyone healthcare, not to mention the welfare payouts and other things the folks think they are entitled to.
I don't begrudge paying tax for London: what's good for them is good for the UK - the City of London for example is a financial powerhouse that drives much of our economy and if investors are driven away from fear of crime then we all suffer
New York is the financial center of the States, and every bit as important to us as London is to Britain.
The federal government pays less than 5% of their law enforcement budget, and what they do pay is for counter-terrorism. The rest the city foots the bill.
London needs to pay up and stop their whining about a loss of central government funds.
Meanwhile a large portion of what London does actually pay goes for chasing down "hate crimes" and "hate speech" while they fire real police officers right and left.
Britain's so called "austerity program" that the left is complaining about is solely a result of their unsustainable welfare system.
That's the source of the whining. Reality has arrived and the losers whine.
They're not whining, they're dying.
Drama is no substitute for the facts. London needs to step up and fund law enforcement. Hire back the real cops and cut back, or do away with entirely, the politically correct enforcement of imaginary hate crimes and speech.
