More on topic, there has been a pattern of Trump doing better in online and automated polls than with a live pollster but the study cited in the OP would have been much better if they had polled the same people with both methods, and gauge the disparity.

Too much extrapolation, although I do think there exists hidden Trump support but I think it's concentrated in first-time voters that are chomping at the bit to vote for what they perceive as a non-politician. Not sure how big or small the number of these people are, though..
