According to the study published in The Journal of Physical Therapy Science, chewing gum while walking may help you to lose weight. It is a known fact that with regular exercise and a healthy diet, one can manage their weight. However, there maybe a few tricks and hacks that may give you better results. While there are many tailor-made diets trending these days, which lead you to a tough road of eating less or nothing in a day, this study simply talks about how chewing a gum can help lose weight. The study was conducted by a team of Japanese researchers where they found that the heart rate of 46 people, aged 21 to 69, increased when they were given gum to chew while walking at a natural pace. In the previous research, the researchers found that chewing gum boosts heart rate and energy expenditure in people at rest. The researchers said that combing exercise and chewing a gum could be an effective way to manage weight. Moreover, thy felt that the results are more effective in countries like Japan where walking is one of the most widely performed activities.

This does not work for me myself because I am no good and multi-tasking. I just am not ambidextrous.

I would think very rarely does chewing gum while walking amount to help one to lose weight. Besides being sweetened or artificially sweetened and all the reasons there are to cut back on the sweet taste sense to lose weight if one is doing any kind of controlled breathing gum would hinder that so, for example, instead of increasing intensity into fast walking or running the focus would be on chewing ...and NOT CHOKING! :)

As for combining exercise and chewing gum I would never do resistance training with something in my mouth and for safety reasons wouldn't advise it.

As a PTA I'm surprised to hear this study coming from out of The Journal of Physical Therapy Science, and am wondering what Japanese researchers have to do with this organization. It seems a poor study for the scientifically evidence based field of Physical Therapy.

The OP has got to be a satirical take on losing weight. Pretty sure that walking without chewing gum will help someone lose weight.

Speaking of getting healthier using common everyday objects like a stick of gum, here's a great exercise for seniors to use to build up arm strength. It's called the potato sack exercise.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5 lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.

Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10 lb. potato sacks.

Then 25 lb. potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100 lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

I think, if your desire to loose weight, first thing is to learn what is making us fat. I think of using a bare for example, he goes all summer eating the fat, and the besties, and honey, and he is trying to gain fat, not loose it, but come winter, he will no longer be going on the energy of sugar, he will have to rely on what he has stored up, and his body burns off the fat, so he is getting nutrients from stored fat, so do away with him, sugar, all together, and keep the carbs low, you will loose weight, and be like the bear, that is burning fat. I think that if your chewing gum, or clicking your fingers, any movement will cost you some callories, just like the bear, he don't want to run long distances, because he will burn fat, but if you eat things sweet, you will be going on the energy of the sweet than on the energy of fat, just like the keeto diet, from doc. Berg I was 340 I'm now 227 and weight is coming off, just eat fat stuff, stay away from sugar it stops the fat burning hormone, and stores the fat, no gum gith sugar, no sweet tea, cokes, cake, ahh yes you can do it if you want to obey God, and do what's right and good before his eyes, sugar is poison !

I would be selfish to not donate my body to science. Someone has to figure out how I managed this amount of awesomeness with one body.
