Lower than the angels? Does the KJV weaken Christ?

Ed, look at the TR Greek text on Hebrews 2:7:

ηλαττωσας αυτον βραχυ τι παρ αγγελους δοξη και τιμη εστεφανωσας αυτον και κατεστησας αυτον επι τα εργα των χειρων σου

    What does this verse say?

This verse says the same thing that the
LXX says NOT what the Hebrew source says.

    Here is what Strongs says:

    G32
    ἄγγελος
    aggelos
    ang'-el-os
From ἀγγέλλω aggellō (probably derived from G71; compare G34; to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an “angel”; by implication a pastor: - angel, messenger.

Sorry, i can't edit that last post because
    you can't edit unicode here???

Psalm 8:5 is the verse where 'angel' is
taken from the LXX rather than from
    the Hebrew source.

The LXX is the pre-Christian era (i.e. B.C.)
translation of the Old Testament into
Greek. Because of the Greek-ification of the
middle east by Alexandria, Jesus had access
probably only to LXX and not to Hebrew
originals. How about that [IMG] Jesus had to
use a translation instead of the native language
    original writing.

We notice the Catholics agree with your KJV:

    Psalms 8:5 (The Douay-Rheims Bible):
Thou hast made him a little less than the angels,
thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:

Yes you can and should. Before the cross his humanity was mortal, born of woman, flesh, alive via oxygenated blood, subject to death.

Post-cross, He is now the first born human being of the resurrection, immortal, glorified and seated at the right hand of the Father, never to die again and one day we will follow Him and share in His resurrection.

    Revelation 1
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

    Revelation 1
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
