Dem judge orders psych counseling for D’Souza

...Judge Berman, who was appointed by Bill Clinton, disagreed, effectively overruling the judgment of the two licensed psychological counselors the U.S. probation department had approved as part of D’Souza’s criminal sentence.

“I only insisted on psychological counseling as part of Mr. D’Souza’s sentence because I wanted to be helpful,” the judge explained. “I am requiring Mr. D’Souza to see a new psychological counselor and to continue the weekly psychological consultation not as part of his punishment or to be retributive.

Now we understand what Germany went through. The Democrats are furious with D'Souza and the power of his documentaries. The Clinton-appointed Judge seems to be signaling that the Dems cannot win in 2016 so they better get their pound of flesh now.

“I’m not singling out Mr. D’Souza to pick on him,” Berman said at the hearing Monday. “A requirement for psychological counseling often comes up in my hearings in cases where I find it hard to understand why someone did what they did.”

Maybe that judge needs psychological counseling given that no one understand why he is doing what he is doing. A rather arbitrary standard for imposing this on a American citizen.

ME, being sarcastic: "Doesn't matter that people who spend up to 8 years to get a degree studying human psychology, and more than that to establish practice and be recognized by this court as competent authorities on the matter--doesn't matter that those people have said you're fine and well-adjusted. You need to get some mental health evaluations and counseling so we can understand why you would criticize the president."

We all understand that Dinesh D'Souza is not an ideal person to defend on...well...anything right?

Outside that he trumpeted his "Christian faith" to gain credibility with evangelicals prior to stepping out on his wife, his current issues (and why he's before a judge) have to do with his orchestration of illegal campaign donations and other prosecutable offenses. He has been found guilty of these things.

While this might be an odd thing for a judge to order, D'Souza isn't as pristine a persecuted individual as WorldNetDaily might attempt to conjure.

His legal issues are because of his illegal activities, not because he's being persecuted for campaigning against President Obama.

D’Souza’s defense counsel Benjamin Brafman provided evidence to the court that the psychiatrist D’Souza was ordered to see found no indication of depression or reason for medication. In addition, the psychologist D’Souza subsequently consulted provided a written statement concluding there was no need to continue the consultation, because D’Souza was psychologically normal and well adjusted.

But Judge Berman, who was appointed by Bill Clinton, disagreed, effectively overruling the judgment of the two licensed psychological counselors the U.S. probation department had approved as part of D’Souza’s criminal sentence.

Sounds like judicial harrassment to me, and unrelated to the crime for which he is on probation.

One can only speculate at the judges real reasons, but it has nothing to do with the mental health of D'Souza.

The Republicans need to come up with a stronger candidate than they have in the past IMHO if they want to beat Hillary. Not another Romney or McCain.

Can you cite precedent for a similar punishment for a comparable crime?

Especially where it was a member of the Demcrat party that was guilty of campaign finance law?

Dems let their criminals walk. However, I do remember one poor Coptic Christian going to prison for an internet video that had almost no views on You Tube--he was a scapegoat for Hillary's criminality, however.
