The commandments of Jesus Christ are the words of God.
They are the words of eternal life.

I do not think they mean obedience. They are eternal life. You must obey them to have eternal life.

Indeed. That is in John 6 and in John 1 we have "The WORD became flesh and dwelt among us".

And in John 6 "I AM the BREAD of heaven" that has come down to earth.

And in Deut 8 the "lesson" of manna from heaven is "Man does not live by BREAD alone but by every WORD that comes from the mouth of God"

And in Rev 19 what is written on his garments of war - "THE WORD of God" and also "KING of KINGS".
