Man and Men in Various Translations

I wanted to see how various English translations compared with one another with two key words.
First the number of times man was used in Romans, 1 Cor., 2 Cor. and Gal. Now sometimes the word
many came up, I did not want to investigate each and every one --that's too time-consuming.

NASB and NKJV tied at 129
ESV : 89
HCSB : 87
ISV : 81
LEB : 80
NET and NIV tied at 76
NLT : 65
CEB : 64
_________________________________________________________
How often did the word men occur in Ro., 1 Cor., and Rev.? Look below.

NASB : 58
NKJV : 47
ESV : 19
HCSB : 15
LEB : 7
ISV : 6
NET : 6
NIV : 5
CEB : 3
NLT : 2
______________________________________________________________
It looks like NASB and NKJV went a bit overboard compared with their peers.

As far as the use of man there is a 40 point spread between the ESV and NASB/NKJV.
There is only a 25 point spread between the ESV and CEB.
It looks like there is more common ground here between the ESV and CEB than the former has
with the NASB and NKJV.

With respect to the use of men there is only a 17 point spread between the NKJV and the NLT.
However, there is a 28 point difference between the ESV and NKJV. And there's a huge 39 point
gap between the ESV and NASB.

Conclusion: The NET, LEB and NIV seem to hit square in the middle.

People (Ro.,1 Cor.,Heb., and Rev.)
NLT : 183
CEB : 162
ISV : 131
NIV : 119
LEB : 92
NET : 88
HCSB : 84
ESV : 59
NASB : 37
NKLJV : 36

The LEB seems to be right in the middle here.

Person (1Cor., Ro. and 1 Jn.)
ISV : 83
CEB : 64
HCSB : 57
NLT : 42
NET : 39
LEB : 36
NIV : 32
ESV : 19
NASB : 10
NKJV : 6

And the NET is about dead center here.

The CSB had a total of just 56. That's 20 less occasions than the NIV used the word.

The CSB had just four instances in those books with that word. That's almost 25% of the times that the HCSB used the word in those books. The CSB is in good company with the other six single digit translations.

In the book of Acts how often does the word men appear in the versions?

ISV,NASB and NKJV : 90
LEB : 89
HCSB : 77
ESV : 76
NET : 68
CSB : 66
NLT and NIV : 65
NRSV : 51
CEB : 26

The CSB seems to be keeping good company with the NET,NLT and NIV.

What about the occurrence of the word man in the book of Acts in these various versions?

NKJV : 134
NASB, LEB and NET : 125
HCSB : 124
ESV : 120
CSB : 114
ISV : 110
NIV : 106
NLT : 105
NRSV : 102
CEB : 93

The CSB is in the middle of the pack.

Well, how about the instances of the word people in the book of Acts in these different translations?

ISV : 109
NIV : 105
NLT : 104
CEB : 104
NET : 91
CSB : 88
LEB : 77
NRSV : 73
HCSB : 72
ESV : 71
NASB : 64
NKJV : 60

It seems the CSB is keeping to the middling point.

You know the drill:
Person in James:

LEB : 14
CSB : 12
NET : 11
ISV : 9
NIV : 9
ESV : 8
HCSB : 6
NLT : 6
CEB : 5
NASB : 3
NRSV : 3
NKJV : 1

The word people in Luke:

ISV : 131
CEB : 108
NLT : 97
NIV : 93
NET : 83
CSB : 68
NRSV : 62
ESV : 59
HCSB : 59
LEB : 59
NASB : 54
NKJV : 41

Have you noticed how conservative the NRSV looks in these examples?

Brothers and sisters

In Romans
CSB :14 mentions
NIV : 12

In 1 Thess.
CSB : 16
NIV : 15

James
CSB : 14
NIV : 14

1 Cor.
CSB : 22
NIV : 22

Heb.
CSB : 8
NIV : 7

So the CSB uses that term four more times than the NIV in those five books.
Are any of you ready to get out your tar and feathers for the CSB translators?
Aren't you at least going to use some intemperate and unreasonable language?
I'm surprised. The TNIV was villified for less. I note the hypocrisy.

I'm sorry - I have come late to this one - would you mind explaining to me what the point of analysis is please?
Think that brother Rippon is trying to support why the Niv 2011 did a good job with inclusive language!

Think this points out why both of them are the best choices for serious Bible studying!

I didn't ask you! Forgive me, but I find it better to go the source to find things out rather then rely on other people's opinions :)

I understand that it is something about so called 'gender inclusive language' but I don't get the point of the point of the comparisons (sorry for being dense)
I have been rather clear. I don't know why you are confused.

The TNIV was treated like an abused step-child with all kinds of unfounded lies thrown at the translation team.
For the 2011 NIV the opposition lost a lot of steam. They sputtered, but lost their mojo.

Now with the modified HCSB called the CSB, the opposition has to eat crow. When the CSB in some cases uses more inclusive language than the NIV they will have to do a lot of backtracking.

The hypocrisy is galling. So I have just come out with the numbers --facts in numerical form.

I apologize. I have been going through the numbers and there are significant errors.
It is tedious, but I will get through all of them.

In the OP I made mistakes that will be corrected here with respect to the use of man
in 1 Cor., 2 Cor. and Gal.
