Man Who Filmed Eric Garner Being Choked Says Grand Jury Was Rigged

I just watched the video. I don't know what they were trying to take him into custody for. But the fact is, he resisted. They gave him ample time to come peaceably, and when he would not comply they used only the force necessary to bring him in.

That was not a choke hold. It started off as a half nelson, then as Garner was going down the officer switched to a sleeper hold. The only pressure put on Garner's neck was caused by his own resistance.

Based solely on the video, the officer did absolutely nothing wrong in the apprehension. The video doesn't show why he was being confronted, though.

Perhaps this is what folks aren't comprehending.

The man hadn't done anything. HE wasn't breaking any laws and not a single officer indicated that he had broken a law. There was no resisting as he wasn't arrested for anything which is part of the problem.

So now Garner choked himself? SMH. Okay what law was Garner breaking that caused him to invite the officer to come help him choke himself?

Based solely on the video, the officer did absolutely nothing wrong in the apprehension.

Then you're either blind or part of the same systemic prejudice exampled in this video. How does anyone see this video, listen to it, and say that a police officer choking a man who hadn't done anything didn't do anything wrong?

The video doesn't show why he was being confronted, though.

The video does show that they hadn't placed him under arrest for anything.

Again 0 discernment even with the plain facts already pointed out.

Well come on then MR. discernment. Tell us what law Eric Garner was breaking when he got choked.

Give me the plain fact of what law was being broken.

He broke two laws.

1. He was selling cigarettes illegally.

2. He resisted arrest.

Well come on and show us where in this video was he selling cigarettes illegally? At what point did the officers, all six of them, say you're under arrest for...?

Please do show us ones who make everything clear.

Rev did you have to point out the obvious....I hope he would read some first.

He is not going to read anything. Like with Ferguson he just wants an innocent man and his family's life turned upside down because a black man died. That is all he needs to know. The facts of the matter are irrelevant.

Exactly. And it is very obvious that there is zero evidence saying Wilson was wrong.
Except for the minor detail that the NYC medical examiner ruled the death was a homicide caused by the police officer's chokehold. :)

I was going to make fun of you, but couldn't think of anything we'd both laugh at. Everything I thought of would sound mean spirited. But you've got your cases crossed. Wilson killed Brown, not Garner.

Actually there was several contributing factors to his death which were his asthma, obesity, and heart issue.

I have an excuse. I'm old! LOL!

Yeah, I was talking about Garner in NYC and you were talking about Wilson and Brown. I missed that. :)

However, I do think Officer Wilson made some serious errors. As soon as he saw how big Brown was he should have called for backup. I think his actions were justified, but it could all have been avoided.

I wouldn't have tried to take on a 300 pound guy with a history of violence (of course Officer Wilson didn't know his history at the time). I would have stayed with him at a distance until backup arrived. And, if necessary, it never hurts (except your ego) to back off or even leave. But, of course, hindsight is 20/20. :)

Boy that white privilege is on full display here tonight. It doesn't become factual just because it's the white privilege narrative.

Rigged .... I doubt it! But .....

Ramsey Orta — who recorded the July 17 incident in which Officer Daniel Pantaleo put Eric Garner in a chokehold shortly before he died on his cellphone — told the Daily News the grand jury ‘wasn’t fair from the start,’ and claims his testimony only lasted 10 minutes. ‘I think they already had their minds made up,’ he said.

Orta said he arrived at the Richmond County courthouse on Sept. 1 prepared to be grilled for hours about what happened on July 17, when cops confronted Garner on a Tompkinsville street for selling unlicensed cigarettes.

Ten minutes later, Orta said he was done.

Only a few jurors asked any questions.

“Maybe three, that’s all,” he said. “The rest of them, they weren't even worried about nothing.”

Those that did pose questions were also more focused on Garner than Pantaleo, he said.

“One grand juror asked me, ‘If you knew he was selling cigarettes why didn't you tell him the cops was there?’” he said.

Another grand juror asked Orta if he had ever been arrested.

“I said, ‘Miss, what does my criminal history have to do with Eric?’” he said. “I said we shouldn't be sitting here talking about me, we should be talking about Eric now. And we shouldn't even be talking about Eric, we should be talking about the cop.”

.... this case would be best served in a public court of trials! From my view of the video, it looks like a much smaller cop, jumping on Garner from behind, and while struggling to hold on and take Garner down, it appeared; he had his arms around the victim's neck.

Justice would and should be served, by letting this one go before a real jury.

Although, and I truly mean what I say next. If that jury fails to find just cause to bring a conviction, those who are rebel rousers now, will be just as rousing after a jury trial, if they don't get their way! And that is the problem with some Americans today! They are so entitled; they stomp their feet and throw temper tantrums when things don't go their way!

I think I'd get a signed letter from Shallow Al stating that should the trial jury not find any wrong doing, that Shallow Al would do his level best to settle down the masses and work towards peace!

White privilege, along with the critical race theory and post traumatic slave syndrome, are liberal false theories and ideologies designed to ignore the real reasons for failings in the inner city black community. Liberals and liberal academia cannot face, nor acknowledge, that the true reason for these failings lie in decades of Democrat liberal policies. They can’t acknowledge that government dependency, welfare, food stamps, and a host of other government programs that were supposed to help the black community, actually proved to have the opposite effect. They can’t acknowledge this because they were the architect of these policies.

Yep well said.
