Perhaps the stupidest story I've heard in a long time.

I can't see any other reason why a guy who is essentially "THE MAN" on campus and has been for a couple of years can't date just about anyone, but has to default to dating someone he met online.

It's the sort of thing folks do when everyone is wondering about your sexuality when they have never seen you with a girl or girlfriend especially when you should be getting girls left and right because of who you are.

So to keep folks off his back, he invents this fake girlfriend.

Hmmm. Somebody needs to investigate.

Just an odd story.

I just noticed this story in the paper today. I know nothing about it.

One thing I did notice is the imaginary girl's last name, Kekua. That is my sister-in-law's maiden name, she is Hawaiian. My younger brother (deceased) met her when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks on Oahu in the Army.

So, at least the name is a real Hawaiian name. :tongue3:

So your opinion is that he's homosexual?

While you didn't come straight out and say that, you cast aspersions on his sexuality because he was "online dating."

Our culture has become real creepy. I see almost everyone under 30 with their faces in I-Phones and tablets. They talk about dating someone and never meeting them..huh? Many young people today lead fantasy lives where they are fake. I don't see a good end to this sort of society!

My opinion is that he may be and felt the need to invent a girlfriend to keep his teammates and others off his back.

An opinion based on no evidence.

What do we call idle talk about others' affairs? Gossip.

So your mindset is that if Christians decide there is no real Christian candidate to vote for, and they choose to vote for the candidate they believe will do the least harm to the country and society, then they're leading others down--or at least allowing them to stay on-- the road to hell; and that those who engage in internet dating are hiding homosexual tendencies.

Interesting Christian mindset you have.

God has never asked for your sacrifice to do the least harm to the country. He asked for your obedience.

and that those who engage in internet dating are hiding homosexual tendencies.

Nope. But assuming that I said that allows you to attempt to make your point. Funny how that appears to be the only way the lot of you can make your point is to make out like I said something I did not.

If nothing, you're all consistent.

Interesting Christian mindset you have.

Interesting, consistent mindset you and the others have for attempting to make it look like I said something I did not, and then responding as though I did.:applause:

But like I said, you're all consistent.

That's right; our obedience to Him, and those He has placed over us. He specifically identified godly men in the Bible, and prophets to choose the leaders of the nation; but nowadays, we choose for ourselves, because we have no prophets telling us who God wants to be our political leaders, and no political leaders claiming that God chose them.

You are correct; you stated that he may be homosexual. What I find most interesting about your mindset is that, instead of discussing the "lying" part of this story, you introduced his sexuality.

And what I find most intriguing about every post that I make is that you and the clique find some way to make it a discussion about your disapproval with ME instead of what was said.

What I find most intriguing is that the mods talk about personal attacks but this brand of personal attacks from the clique seem to always go unchecked.

Deal with what I DID say. You have no idea what my mindset is. My belief is that the lying part of the story may have been to throw folks off his sexual orientation. If you and others feel differently, okay.

My disapproval? Where did I say I disapproved of anything? I merely commented how you made a leap from the possibility of someone lying in order to build up their reputation, to lying because of their sexuality. So far, you're the only person I've seen who has put forth this possibility. Doesn't mean you're wrong; merely causes curiosity about how your thought processes work.

If you felt it was a personal attack, then report it.

I *have* been dealing with what you did say. It's interesting that you're the only one throwing out this possibility, without any shred of evidence to back it up. That necessarily leads to the follow-on question which I threw out in the form of a statement: what kind of Christian throws out unfounded statements about other people?

If it turns out that it was simply a publicity gimmick, will you apologize for what you've intimated about this young man?

Since Te'o didn't invent the girlfriend, apology should be given immediately. Don't hold your breath...
