Marking in your Bible

I am still using my 1945 copy of the KJV, and I have made notes with fountain pen, ball pen and pencil,,whatever was handy at the time. This is the copy of the Bible I use for preaching, even to-day. I have other study Bibles.

On adding to the word, writing in this book is not adding to the word, it is helping to understand that word, with all the changes in time and the language.

Remember, any copy of the Bible is but a book, which happens to contain the word which has been passed down through the ages. It is not an object of worship. Perhaps this is why the Lord allowed original manuscripts to be lost; the thought that some would worship it.

Seriously how long before the Lord saves you do you have to give up these things or should we take, "Just as I am," out of our songbooks?

Go back and read my posts. Did I say this price we pay was before Salvation? I don't recall saying that. I only said we do pay a price.

Salvation is not free. It comes with a price.

The original debate began with the "it" being salvation. Therefore when you said, "Yes, it is both a price, and a joy," what else could I be led to believe? If you had deviated to something else being "it" between Saggy's post and yours, you didn't make it clear. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

But it (Salvation) does come with a price. If you are saved, you will have to give things up... sacrifice. The Spirit will begin to speak to the saved person's heart and convict him or her of sins both past and present and that person must be willing to turn from the present ones.

Again, if that one is allowed to continue in his or her sins and feels no conviction, can that one truly be saved?

You say IT does come with a price, then you say if you have IT this is what you need to do. Sure after I got IT I have had to sacrifice and I have had take up my cross daily, but to get it I didn't bring a sacrifice or a cross with me to the altar!!!

How can we just make a profession of faith in Christ if we do not obey Him also?

Read Col 3:5-10, Eph 4:22-24, Gal 5:19-24, Col 2:8-15, 1Cor 6:9-11, Acts 9:1-20. These scriptures tell you the changes made after Christ comes into a new christian's life. Col 3:5-10 and Eph 4:22-24 give reference to the "old man" and "new man".

Now, getting back to the subject of the OP, I use a highlighter, and if it's one I use for reference, I underline it with an ink pen.

Ink pen???? :laugh:

Much, much better than an ink pen, which will eventually bleed, is a Micron archival ink marker. They come in various size tips (I use 005, very small) and various colors (I use purple or pink, 'cause I'm girly )
You can get them at any art supply store or Michael's.

You can also order them online from Kay Arthur's web site.
