The morning and the first hour of the new day are to be offered to God as the first movements of the soul and the mind. No other efforts should be undertaken before we rejoice in the remembrance of God; as it is written, I re,e,bered God and was gladdened[Ps. 76:3.] nor should we exert the body in any other activity, until we have fulfilled the words: Unto Thee will I pray, O Lord. In the morning Thou shalt hear my voice. In the morning shall I stand before Thee, and Thou shalt look upon me.[Ps. 5:1-2.]
