The key to the Interpretation and the 'clincher' to engender confidence to preach this is John the Baptist's obedience to and fulfillment of Isaiah's Prophecy.

We have Jesus essentially saying, in Matthew 23:13, "You are Not preparing the way of The Lord and you are Not making My paths straight, or preaching that the kingdom of God is at hand. That is blocking you and your hearers. Woe unto you!"

Some here deny false teaching can block folks who are open to the gospel, denying that falsehoods sidetrack some who would otherwise enter.

Matthew 23:13:
"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Total Spiritual Inability is shown to be bogus because "people" could not be shut off is they had no ability to enter. Second, since these people were not allowed to go in, they were not being compelled by irresistible grace.

For all of time and Eternity, nothing in Matthew 23:13 says one word about, "the righteousness of Christ covering there sins", and Matthew 23:13 has never and will never have any references to Eternal Salvation.

To misinterprete the Passage and add Eternal Salvation into it is an Infinitly different 'thinking', imposed onto the Passage, than is Spoken by Jesus.

Mat 23:13 may not say anything about the righteousness of Christ or eternal Salvation but Christ is saying they shut up the kingdom of heaven they don't enter in and they hinder those who are about to enter. You claim this isn't about Salvation or being saved. You my friend are wrong. No one enters heaven with out being saved. Entering heaven is our ultimate reward The Pharisee;s were trying to prevent men from entering and the only way they can do this is by some form of distraction. Your only disagreement is that disagrees with what you believe. Just seems typically Calvinist. Your argument is with scripture.

After matching wits with what could be some controversy regarding this Scripture, I posted a adaptation of Gill, who has a capibilty of disregarding the flesh, as an Interpretation 'tool' and directing toward a God-Honoring Interpretation.

Jesus Spoke of those who heard these Sayings of His, as those who built their house upon a rock.
