Likely will be harder to convince better people to become police a vocal minority of politicians, national and local, and public dont like you. And more police will want to quit. Perhaps it will take an upswing in crime to make the police favored again. IMO, many of these anti police are also law breakers.

They should have local votes to see what areas of cities want the police defunded, then pull the police away from those zones and see what happens. Defund the police also means defunding crime scene investigation units and the criminal justice system in those areas.

Then setup walls and zones to restrict people from moving around out of these inner city areas, as in quarantine them in their various holes and autonomous zones, delay or just dont go in the no go zones for police, or fire. Let those areas police themselves with community funded police of themselves, their own peer group.

Defunding police certainly affects fire departments also because fires in certain neighborhoods of Indianapolis, for example, automatically send police to protect the fire department and it is that way all over the country. I have been in Indianapolis for the last 40 years and there has always been a shortage of police. Indianapolis never had a downtown riot that I know about until the riot over Floyd, which cost the lives of two black men downtown. Now the Indianapolis city-county council has declared racism as a public health problem in Indianapolis. I suppose that they will use the health laws against people that they don't like. Whites have been moving out of Indianapolis for many years now. Indianapolis has a very high murder rate. Black Republicans are saying that defunding the police will mean higher crime in black neighborhoods. Once again, it seems to be mostly white Democrats who want to defund the police most of all.

Why should the police be worried about this - when their first concern is to protect
their own life.

How about criminals taking responsibility for their own actions.
Its not that hard to figure out.

Yes, everyone should get their day in court - but when one suspect is able to get away from 2 cops (and I am not blaming the cops) all bets are off!

There's a FaceBook group I'm in that covers wrongful convictions. I feel for those that truly are wrongfully convicted. BTDT. However, you can tell from the dialogue from their spouses/family members that it's almost a guarentee they did what they're convicted off. One guy shot a cop while robbing a store. 30 years ago, still in prison. And his family thinks he got a raw deal. Naw, the cop ended up in a wheelchair for life. HE got a raw deal because some snot-nosed black kid decided to be a loser in the real world and hold up a store and shoot a cop that was trying to give the kid an even break. And earlier when the members found out that *I* of all people, is white...all the hatred and bigotry and racism was spewed out against me. Now somehow *I* am responsible for their husband/boyfriend/whatever committing a crime. Then I got this from a friend- Video surfaces of Black Lives Matter founder saying, "We are trained Marxists"
THAT pushed it for me. I'm no longer Black Lives Matter. I'll have to side with Mohamed Ali's family and his stance (before he died).
