Chris Temple - Solidly Biblical. I count it a joy to read his posts
Pastor Larry - Solid guy. This guy has been roasted and never fights fire with fire.
Dr. Bob - What can you say? He's just Dr. Bob!
Lorelei-Great spirit about her.

Chris,
You mentioned the fact I've been on infrequently. I have been caring for my aunt (not much older than me, she's more like my sister) who developed a rare and fast spreading cancer. She recently died and I've been attending to family matters. I hope to get back into the grove here on the BB. Thanks for your kind words.

Tom:

My deep felt condolences. I know how its been - my dad lived with us for 9 years prior to his death two years ago at 81 from lung cancer. Praise the Lord, he was saved at age 80 through family Bible study in our house. The Lord is Great.

3.) I would have to ditto Barnabas Halo on nominating the webmaster (the other Barnabas) to this title. (I didn't before because I didn't think he would accept it if he won. .. :D )

I think the WebMaster has cared for his "flock" of the BB, and strives to help them grow by hosting this website. I appreciate the work he has put into it, and know that he is already a busy man.

I also admire the way he deals with people and strives for doing what is right and good and fair and godly and all that.

That's what I get for not voting for myself! I got beat out by John Wells! How humiliating! :D

Also, I wonder if all those people who only got one vote are now embarrassed they voted for themselves? :D

Now, seriously, I concur with Brother Barnabas, the Member of the Year Award should go to the Webmaster. He has done a masterful job of setting up the BB, of overseeing its day to day operation, and used uncommonly good judgement in choosing Administrators (well, all but one) and Moderators.

It is now official. Webmaster - our Man of the Year!

I am amazed (and confused!) by the fact that I have not found Danette's name among the nominated! So I am proud to be the first to offer a nomination for Danette for her faithful and uplifting testimonies and observations. She can support, challenge and qualify many points of view with grace and dignity, and I am a sincere fan.

The winner will get an nice plaque with nomination excerpts.

So you can stop nominating me because I would not make such a plaque for myself

So if, say, Barnabas J Halo wins, I'll post a message with excerpts from nominations (see below), print the screen in color and make it into a nice plaque.

***For illustration purposes only****Nomination ends 12/31***

I am proud to announce that Barnabas has been selected Baptist Board.com's Member of the Year - 2001 by Baptist Board.com members.

Barnabas.....Straightforward, truthful,
friendly, knowledgable, just all around
he's got it all! - Gina

Barnabas Halo mainly because I really admire how he deals with people. I know I have said this many times before, but he is kind and compassionate yet straightforward and godly. Those are qualities I wish I coul emulate. - SaggyWoman

Barnabas can tell you off and you'd go away feeling edified! LoL He has a WONDERFUL sense of humor and has the most loving, gentle kind spirit! - Kathy

It has been his goal all along to emulate first Jesus Christ, and then his namesake- Barnabas, Son of Consolation. He is truly an encourement and an exhorter, just like his name means. I saw early on when the BB fisrt started, that BJH was the glue that kept us together. He is without a doubt one of the most respected men here! - Joy

. . . etc.

Hope you all see that this is indeed a prestigious honor, something you can hang high in your office

Let the nominations continue

Hey, since I got the only two evolutionist's votes (Arrowman and Barbarian), that's 2 for me, 0 for everyone else, shouldn't I get some runner-up award, like . . . "Most Likely To Evolve!" :D

Gina - Did you really mean AMEN to Barnabas' example?

Or AHEM which indicates you think someone else should get it?

BTW, you spell my name "BOB" - forward or backward, it's still the same.

Me

Seriously, I vote for:

Barnabas
Joy
Kathy
HankD (I appreciate his answers in the Other Religions forum)

And everybody else gets an honourable mention! ;)

I have to nominate Barnabas J. Halo.

He always comes across as kind, thoughtful, intelligent and Christlike.

I have to admit that my nomination is partly motivated from selfishness. Barnabas is one of the few people that has ever made me feel welcome here on the Baptist Board.

Thanks for clearing that up Dr. Bob, you don't know HOW many times I erased your name after typing it because I had it all backwards!
I actually meant "Ahem" as in WHY did everyone quit voting?

But if you want to look at it as an Amen to Barnabas example then yes! Definitely!
ELIZABETH! You're beyond welcome here! We were just trying to find where in the Baptist etiquette handbook it says we're allowed to be a little more sociable. I just found it today, so you're in luck from this day forth!

Actually, you can go into your profile (which is permanent name, #, etc) and change the name you want to have on the post. So I think I'll change this to John Doe and nominate myself.

Nah. Too much work for a losing cause!!

I've not been here long, but these are the folks I enjoy reading the most, and appreciate their attitudes, knowledge, firmness, teaching spirit, or humor.

Chris Temple
rlvaughn
Pastor Larry
James2
Dr Bob (did I spell it right?)

Webmaster does not want added to the list so I'll just note my appreciation for him for making this site available. It has been a real great tool for me to study through some issues and bounce ideas off others.
