Member of the Year Award (2002)

Here are my final nominations of the year.

9. Abiyah There is just something about her posts that makes me respect her. She seems to have lead a life of struggle and found the Lord to be her strength.

10. Jim1999 In alot of ways he reminds me of Barnabas. He always has a kind word while trying to show us how to live for Christ. Not to mention the fact that in his profile picture he looks a little like my Dad.

Well, I cast all my remaining ballots for Rev. G, who surely saved the day during the troll attack!

He TRULY saved the day and kept his head & cleaned up the board in the absence of mods & webmaster! Surely, Rev. G, you must've been in the Military to keep your cool under pressure!

Besides being in the Lord's Army....

After I got over the initial shock & appallment, all I could think to do was send emails, ...nothing as level-headed as the Rev.!

So I salute you, Rev. G, & thank you, too! I think at this point the BB loves you & you've become our BB HERO!

So whatever votes I may have left, I am stuffing the ballet box....if it's allowed!

What is the deal with this member of the year award? Is it supposed to be the most popular member of baptistboard.com, or the most inspirational, or the most thoughtful, or...?

 

It's the one who's thrifty, brave, clean and most reverent!

I am both humbled and honoured by your words. To be compared with Barnabas is beyond comprehension. That I should even be half the man he is.

I am also pleased that my Lord is seen when I post..isn't that our primary goal in life? Caring for people......always a vital part of one's ministry.

#9 - rsr

rsr has shown himself to be very informed on many modern issues within the denomination. He holds fast to historic Baptist principles yet never comes across as offensive or confrontational. To the contrary, he maintains a good sense of humor and Christian humility. I consider him a good ally and a good resource on this board. He is one with whom I feel a true kinship.

#10 - Joseph Botwinick

Joe is a very passionate individual. I am giving him this nomination for reasons of which most of you would not be aware. Joe has a strong conviction for fairness and orderliness that one would not necessarily see on the public board. When others of us in the moderator's forum are being carried away by emotional biases, Joe keeps us grounded as to what the rules and policies of this board entail. He is a defender of the underdogs, whether he be in agreement with them or not. The fervency with which he defends justice is not always immediately appreciated but it has been quite instrumental in maintaining the vision of this board: that it be a place where ALL Baptist have a voice.

That's all ten of my nominations this year, but I will reserve the right to make a post of honorable mentions at a later date.

I was going to make my last four nominations men, and I would still like to, but something has sort of gotten in the way...

Several women have gotten hit hard on the forums by some of the men and have responded almost consistently with grace under pressure and shown a Christian heart. I want to recognize two of these women and thank them for their way of dealing with the difficulties by nominating them:
