mental illness, not guns

Mental illness has nothing to do with the Sandy Hook tragedy. Sin is the culprit.

The young man needed Christ.

Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
I got my only infraction because of your remarks about this subject. I am a Christian, work in the mental health industry, and you have no idea what you are talking about. I am not going to say the same phrases again because I wish to stay on this board, but wish I could say lots more.

Sin is sin no matter what other label man wants to pin on it.

And sin is the root of what occurred in Newtown.

SN, I stand with you. It is sad that Christians believe in health care for everything but the mind.

As soon as someone can show me a picture of a person holding a mind in his hands...

As soon as someone can show me a picture of a surgeon operating on a mind....

then I will change my stance on the mind.

As soon as you can show me a soul, I will know that it's real.

I think you must not know much about studies that have been done on the mind or how the mind works. It is a magnificent creation of God but as with any other part of the body it can become sick or damaged, and require medical help to repair or restore.

So, where is that picture of the mind being repaired?

There are MANY unanswered questions about the shooting. I hesitate to believe anything the media is saying at this point.

First, we were told there were 2 shooters and the cops thought one was hiding. Then they suddenly stopped reporting that with no real explanation, saying there was just one shooter.

It was reported that the mother was a teacher. She wasn't.
It was reported that the brother was the shooter. He wasn't.
It was reported that the shooter has mental problems and his mother was irresponsible to teach him how to handle guns.
On and on it goes. . . .

There's much more to this story than what the media is telling us. I think, before we have any knee-jerk reactions, we should ponder what the media is NOT saying. Maybe the blog posted in the OP has a point.

Are you really this dense or do you just pretend to be?

Surgery of the brain to correct epilepsy is common. It is also common knowledge that the mind operates off body chemistry and the makeup of that chemistry can affect the function of the mind.

Here's a picture of your brain and the various functions that it performs-

Mexdeaf is right on. There is a lot being done today to treat problems in the brain. The obvious is removing tumors. There's also bleeding on the brain and Chiari (it looks like one of my sons has this). There is also depression and other issues than can be impacted by brain chemistry. This treatment involves medication in many cases.

The brain is incredibly complex and it is, literally, the nerve center of the human body. A problem with the brain impacts how our bodies function and even drives our emotions. That is why, in response to all of these shootings, it is imperative that we have a discussion about mental health in America.

You've only shown surgery on a brain. Hate to break it to you MexDeaf, but the brain is not the mind.

Again, tumors are something material. Show me some doctor's report where he did surgery on a mind? Where he says he took a mind in his hands and repaired it? After all, you say MexDeaf is right, and MexDeaf says the mind can be repaired.

:confused:The brain and the mind are one and the same. For crying out loud where do people come up with this stuff.

The brain and the mind are not the same.

Do you seriously believe Paul said we have Christ's brain?

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
