They know what they are

I have a member of my church who is a registered Democrat
but he says, he normally votes Republican.

Why doent he change regersation - I have no ideal

Being in a party - really only has two reasons (at least in NY State)
1) You can vote in that primary
2) you can run for office (at least in the primary) in that party without having permission of the party.

When I lived in the South, I was a registered Democrat because there was no Republican party and the Democrat primaries were the election. That’s the Solid South.

There are so many whites that are insulated by privilege that they will never understand minorities and what occurs in minority neighborhoods just as minorities can not understand the privileged lives of whites... both have racist thoughts that prohibit meaningful dialog that prohibits meaningful understanding
