Nuevo Laredo, Mexico

-- Mexican army convoys and a navy ship laden with food, supplies and specialists traveled to the United States Wednesday to help in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. It was a highly symbolic journey marking the first time Mexico's military has aided its northern neighbor.

A convoy of 45 vehicles and 196 soldiers arrived at the border city of Nuevo Laredo Wednesday night. It was to cross into U.S. territory early today, Gen. Francisco Ortiz Valadez told reporters as his men refueled at a local gas station.

We send our troops all over the world and say, "We're just here to help." What kind of hypocrites would we be if we refused to let 196 soldiers from Mexico in?

Good bye US sovereignty. Hello one-world-government. Having civilian disaster relief teams from other countries is one thing. But military presense?

186 Tejano militia defeated 4,000 Mexican regulars ... If the US Army needs a little help, the Tejanos down south can make it so you can sleep at night.

PS - you owe them an apology ...

How things have changed , I think the world saw
the situation on the ground and at times it reflected a Super Power almost in a 3rd world light.

In the past I think we would have declined but
that was then. Poverty numbers are now higher
here than they have been in a long time.

The United States was exposed to some degree
because of this disaster and we must really go about solving our growing poverty problem.

The World sees us slightly differently now. imho

When they pass the FTAA there will be no US troops or Mexican troops, there will instead be "American troops" for the union of the Americas.

While I certainly appreciate their place in history and the sacrfice they made for the Republic of Texas. You should understand that the victors write the history. Had Houston lost they would be known as Mexican insurgents. And would only be a footnote in the history books.

So what's the big deal. Some Mexican troops come over to help out. What, we can't appreciate someone helping out?

You people honestly should be ashamed of yourself! Do you REALLY think that "196" Mexican soldiers are threat to national security? What a TOTAL insult to the men and women in uniform in this country!

And if you are worried about "psyops" you need to learn something about the spy business. They don't tend to "walk around in full uniforms of other nations." They get hired as "computer geeks" for YOUR company, and they get hired as "research scientists" at the National Labs.

Shame on you for assuming the US Troops couldn't stop an invasion from 196 men!
