Paul and Silas were compelled to devote the midnight hour to prayer and praise, as is recorded in the history of Acts: At midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God.[Acts 16:25.] And the Psalmist also says: At midnight I arose to give thanks unto Thee for the judgements of Thy righteousness.[Ps. 118:63.]

they disciplined themselves to do that because their lifestyle allowed it. no?

If God wants you up at midnight prayin. he'll get you up. no matter what.
