CRONY CAPITALISM THE CAUSE OF SOCIETY’S PROBLEMS

Since the economic downturn of 2008, the critics of capitalism have redoubled their efforts to persuade the American people and many others around the world that the system of individual freedom and free enterprise has failed.

These critics have insisted that it is unbridled capitalism, set lose on the world, which is the source of all of our personal and society misfortunes. We hear and read this not only in the popular news media and out of the mouths of the political pundits. We see it also in the election of a radical socialist to the leadership of the British Labor party, and a self-proclaimed “democratic socialist” riding high in the public opinion polls for the Democratic Party’s nomination to the U.S. presidency.

The first observation to make is that many if not most of the social and economic misfortunes that are most frequently talked about are not the product of a “failed” free enterprise. The reason for this is that a consistently practiced free enterprise system no longer exists in the United States.

How Do You Prepare a Child for Life in the American Police State?

In an age dominated with news of school shootings, school lockdowns, police shootings of unarmed citizens (including children), SWAT team raids gone awry (leaving children devastated and damaged), reports of school resource officers tasering and shackling unruly students, and public schools undergoing lockdowns and active drills, I find myself wrestling with the question: how do you prepare a child for life in the American police state?

Every parent lives with a fear of the dangers that prey on young children: the predators who lurk at bus stops and playgrounds, the traffickers who make a living by selling young bodies, the peddlers who push drugs that ensnare and addict, the gangs that deal in violence and bullets, the drunk drivers, the school bullies, the madmen with guns, the diseases that can end a life before it’s truly begun, the cynicism of a modern age that can tarnish innocence, and the greed of a corporate age that makes its living by trading on young consumers.

It’s difficult enough raising a child in a world ravaged by war, disease, poverty and hate, but when you add the police state into the mix—with its battlefield mindset, weaponry, rigidity, surveillance, fascism, indoctrination, violence, etc.—it becomes near impossible to guard against the toxic stress of police shootings, SWAT team raids, students being tasered and shackled, lockdown drills, and a growing unease that some of the monsters of our age come dressed in government uniforms.

Billionaire Soros comes under fire in homeland

Hedge fund mogul George Soros has come under fire in his native Hungary, where politicians have accused him of supporting illegal migration amidst a refugee crisis that's brought the right-wing government under pressure.

Government representatives including Prime Minister Viktor Orban have slammed Soros in recent weeks for promoting liberal migrant policies and backing a variety of organizations through his pro-democracy charity that have criticized the way Orban's government has dealt with the crisis.

In opinion pieces published by the Financial Times and Project Syndicate, Soros has said frontline states like Hungary were shirking their asylum obligations, and controversially suggested that a comprehensive European refugee plan should provide each asylum seeker with $16,800 annually for two years to help cover housing, health care and education costs.

"[Soros] keeps bombarding the international public with his earth-shattering plans, quite obviously, in the name of true selflessness which he has manifested in so many ways in the countries where his activities have resulted in sovereign default in the past 30 years," Hungarian Minister János Lázár, who currently heads the Prime Minister's Office, said at a press conference earlier this month.

TEXAS SHERIFF SAYS YOU HAVE TO OBEY THE POLICE BECAUSE THEIR ‘AUTHORITY COMES FROM GOD’

A Texas sheriff recently lashed out at critics, saying that citizens have a moral obligation to “obey the police” because their “authority comes from God.”

Randy Meeks is the Hunt County sheriff, and he believes he is doing “God’s work.”

Meeks recently published a guest editorial in the local Herald-Banner. In it, he cited Bible verses that he claims argue that any one the government puts in charge of you must be obeyed.

The article was run in print only, but photographed by our friend Brett Sanders. Check out those images below…

< snip >

The sheriff added that anyone who criticizes the police is defying God, and that this is merely “the ignorance of some people.” He urged officers to “hang in there” while Godless citizens criticize them for punching pregnant women in the belly.

Sheep Led To The Slaughter: The Muzzling Of Free Speech In America

By John Whitehead, constitutional and human rights attorney, and founder of the Rutherford Institute.

“If the freedom of speech be taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”—George Washington

The architects of the American police state must think we’re idiots.

With every passing day, we’re being moved further down the road towards a totalitarian society characterized by government censorship, violence, corruption, hypocrisy and intolerance, all packaged for our supposed benefit in the Orwellian doublespeak of national security, tolerance and so-called “government speech.”

God bless.

He quoted Romans 13. The Sheriff is a public servant that was elected to office to serve and protect those who elected him not to rule over them. We do not have kings, rulers or emperors in our republican form of government even though there are some public servants who believe they are our rulers and act accordingly.

In 1st century Rome Caesar was the law in the United States the constitution is the law.

If you'd like to have a debate on Romans 13 then I would ask you nicely to start another thread on that subject where it can be debated without hijacking this thread.

Thank you.

How does that change whether what he said is correct or not?

Are you saying that elected officials should not be allowed to have an opinion in regards to Scripture?

You are saying that elected officials should be secular?

Let me ask you this, Poncho, do you not approve of those in elected office agreeing with Scripture?

Now what was that first rule of propaganda again?

Oh, here it is:

1) It Prevents Dialogue.

“To be effective, propaganda cannot be concerned with detail... Propaganda ceases where simple dialogue begins… it does not tolerate discussion; by its very nature, it excludes contradiction and discussion.”

You are doing exactly what you rail against...shutting down conversation and censoring free speech. Or does that Sherriff not have that right in your interpretation of American policy based on interpretation of those documents which are relevant to our rights?

Did the Sherriff establish Law that People have to obey police officers because that is God's will? Could you show me where he did that?

Can you tell me if this...

The sheriff added that anyone who criticizes the police is defying God, and that this is merely “the ignorance of some people.” He urged officers to “hang in there” while Godless citizens criticize them for punching pregnant women in the belly.

...is representative of the man you are speaking about when you say this? I looked twice at the link and I found nothing concerning this fellow advocating, or even mentioning a pregnant woman being punched in the belly.

Here is another characteristic of propaganda: it always distorts the truth so it's agenda is served. This one was missing from the list.

It's okay, Poncho, you can look at it as derailing the thread. I see it as a matter of discussion.

It is absurd to vilify this Sherriff because he happens to believe the Bible. The kind of Separation of Church and State you seem to be vying for is a liberal fight.

Those in Law enforcement who believe God's Word to be the rule for our lives are less likely to engage in the actions of police officers who do questionable acts, such as punching a pregnant woman. Now, if we can just get all of you propagandists into the Word of God, and out of the newslines, we might see a kinder, gentler Police Force.

;)

Now who is it again, that is contributing to America's road to Fascism?

God bless.

Start another thread and I'll be be happy to join you there and you accuse me of anything you like.

Is that so much to ask?

Wayne Simmons, recurring Fox News guest, charged with lying about CIA ties

Wayne Simmons, a recurring guest on Fox News who claimed to have 27 years of experience with the CIA, was arrested Thursday after being indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he lied about his service.

Simmons is accused of falsely claiming that he worked as an "outside paramilitary special operations officer" for the CIA from 1973 to 2000. On Fox, this was often shortened to "former CIA operative."

He was also indicted for using that false claim to gain government security clearances and an assignment as a defense contractor, where he advised senior military personnel overseas.

Simmons made his initial appearance in court on Thursday afternoon. If convicted, he could face up to 35 years in prison on charges of major fraud against the United States, wire fraud, and making false statements to the government.

Super hero turns "socialist"

Captain America started out by taking on Nazis and defending freedom, now, however, Marvel has him siding with Democrats in Washington and beating up on conservatives who quote the US Constitution.

Do You Recognize Fascism When You See It?

Although people find NAZI racism repugnant, most favor the economics of Fascism without realizing it. Do you recognize Fascism when you see it?

Traditionally, the ancient Roman term “Fascism” has referred to a specific economic theory and form of government, rather than to a racist ideology. This form of Collectivism is called “THE THIRD WAY” because it is neither laissez faire capitalism nor communism.

Report Shows Michigan Police Seized Over 23 Million In Property and Cash Last Year

Last month, as the Michigan Senate debated a host of reforms to the state’s civil asset forfeiture laws, the Michigan State Police released its Asset Forfeiture Report, the annual publication required by state law that details Michigan’s drug-related forfeiture activities.

The report aggregates data from 629 local police departments, sheriff’s departments, and multijurisdictional task forces, plus the Michigan State Police. Civil forfeiture is a policy that enables law enforcement authorities to seize property or currency if they suspect it is involved in, or is the result of, a crime.

TTIP is already letting big business shape our laws

I’ve often been accused of scaremongering over the last 18 months of trying to stop the world’s biggest trade deal. "Trust the European Commission", I’ve been repeatedly told by members of the Government. "They’ve promised that our food standards won’t be undermined."

Last week the truth slipped out. A senior European civil servant told a conference in the US that TTIP – or the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership – was already changing our food standards.

The deal's negotiations have allegedly helped accelerate approval of new genetically modified products entering Europe. As a result, five new GMO products have recently been approved.

In addition, a new chemical wash for beef carcasses being sold into Europe has been approved. Washing beef in lactic acid raised concerns that unhygienic meat processing practices were being covered up by a final "bleach". European politicians were strong-armed into overcoming their concerns when they were warned that they were damaging the TTIP talks.

Silicon Valley Experts: Use Pop Ups to “Shame” People Who Make Offensive Posts

Two Silicon Valley experts interviewed for a Wired Magazine piece about online harassment suggested that pop-ups could be used to “shame” people who make racist Internet posts or use offensive words.

In the context of a discussion about the need to create new “antiabuse tools,” developer Adria Richards endorsed the implementation of warnings that appear on people’s computer screens before they are able to post ‘offensive’ content.

“There could be little pop-up warnings: “Hey, a lot of people have reported they don’t like receiving this word. Do you still want to post this?” said Richards.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Nadia Kayyali agreed, remarking, “Can we shame people with pop-ups? Because shame seems to work a lot better. “Hey, did you know you’re being racist right now?”

Lockheed Martin, Boeing Rally Around Saudi Arabia, Wave Off Humanitarian Concerns

Representatives from two major defense contractors whose advanced weaponry is being used in the Saudi Arabia-led bombing campaign that has killed scores of civilians in Yemen were quick to defend the human rights record of the Persian Gulf kingdom in a panel discussion held last week in Washington, D.C.

Ronald L. Perrilloux Jr., an executive with Lockheed Martin, complained of an atmosphere of “hostile media reports” shaping the views of Congress, most of which, he said, are “patently false.”

“Another significant irritant,” Perrilloux said, “is the application of human rights laws” toward U.S. allies in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Perrilloux argued that these countries, despite being “better partners to us than some of our NATO allies,” were being unfairly judged compared to Chinese human rights abuses.

Monsanto Always Using Friends In High Places To Reclassify Glyphosate

Monsanto has pressured the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR) to “reassess” their best-selling herbicide, glyphosate. This came after the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) declared that Roundup (glyphosate) was ‘probably carcinogenic.’

The IARC sparked a host of actions from around the world that were unfavorable for Monsanto. Large retailers stopped stocking Roundup, and even the state of California is now requiring Monsanto to putwarning labels on their Round Up bottles. Yet the Big Ag company asserts that “there is no evidence of carcinogenicity” in glyphosate.

It is true that in 1986 the World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations stated this in their report on pesticide residues in food:

“The chronic toxicity of glyphosate is low; the only significant toxicity seen in a number of animal bioassays was mild hepatotoxicity at high doses in mice. There is no evidence of carcinogenicity… and “Glyphosate was without mutagenic activity both in vitro and in vivo.”

But the World Health Organization’s IARC stated in their March 20, 2015 report, which analyzed five organophosphate pesticides, that:

“The herbicide glyphosate and the insecticides malathion and diazinon were classified as probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A).”

Of course Big Ag groups have denounced the most recent announcement by the IARC.

The National Corn Growers Association and CropLife International issued statements criticizing the IARC’s decision, but should we be surprised?

The National Corn Growers Association President Chip Bowling said:

“The movement to reclassify glyphosate as a class 2A probable carcinogen ignores the findings of more than four decades of credible scientific research. In doing so, this decision creates unnecessary fear and confusion over the proven safety record of this important agricultural tool.”

Perhaps Mr. Bowling is missing the recent reports that Monsanto sat on information linking glyphosate to cancer for more than thirty-five years?

Cybersecurity Bill Sails Through Senate Despite Privacy Concerns

WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan cybersecurity bill on Tuesday over concerns from tech companies on the impact the information-sharing provisions in the bill might have on individual privacy.

The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act puts in place voluntary information sharing programs between the federal government, state and local governments as well as private companies and other entities.

The bill easily cleared the Senate 74-21 Tuesday night. Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, was among the notable senators who voted against the bill.

"Its voluntary information-sharing provisions are key to defeating cyberattacks and protecting the personal information of the people we represent," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, said on the floor Tuesday morning. "We also know the bill contains measures to protect civil liberties and individual privacy."
