Its seems that the Marines have pride in being in the Corps.
Those in the Army - tend to have pride in the Bn or Bde they are assigned
(and now for many years - we have The Army Regimental System

Do those of you in the Navy and AF have pride in ships, planes, units, ect?

I have pride in my service in the 4th Armored Division, not because of what it did while I was serving, but because of what it did to relieve Bastogne.

I did not have pride in my M-14, with its adjustable site that did not hold its bearing, and could get so hot it cooked off its entire magazine.

Hopefully this post does not suggest I was ever in combat or injured while in service, which would be false.

I served in the 2nd Armored Division (124 Maint Bn) with our rich history of Gen Patton.
In fact, I arrived just a few months after Gen Patton IV left Ft Hood.

I was in Air Force signals intelligence (SIGINT). I keep in regular contact with those I served with. While we never fired a shot in anger, we had more "direct" contact with the enemy during the Cold War than most service members. My merry band share an intense amount of pride in each other, our unit, and our mission.

1) Does your (former) unit have a FB page?
2) I served on the East German border with my M-16 - - was that "direct contact" with the enemy.

Let's just say that what the enemy was saying we heard. They couldn't snore without us hearing it.

This was my office in the sky:

One of my duty stations does have a FB group page but it is private.
