Miners?

A. Lincoln said all creation is the mine, and we (humanity) are the miners. We extract from creation what we seek. Not just fruit growing on trees, but we dig into the earth, remove ore and refine it such that we obtain Iron, or gold or copper.

We do not just find useful things on the surface, but must repetitively try various methods, clinging to what is of utility, as we go to school on our past efforts.

We "mine" God's word for "truth." Many times our efforts to refine what we see results not in truth, but in our misapprehension of truth. Some see "cannot understand the things of the Spirit of God" and refine it to "cannot understand all the things of the Spirit of God.

A. Lincoln strove to mine God's creation for truth, but many of his insights did not mesh with the cultural norms thought to be truth. All men were created equal, yet not all men were equal, was culturally accepted, but that did not meet with Mr. Lincoln's Euclidean view that equals were equal.

When we mine God's word, we must not accept ambiguity, but test everything to demonstrate truth with clarity.

See Job 28.

The proper understanding of 1 Corinthians 2:14 is that the natural person, not indwelt, cannot understand the spiritual solid food of the Spirit of God. But they can understand spiritual milk, the fundamentals of the gospel. This limitation also applies to immature Christians because they have not yet grown enough to be able to understand spiritual solid food. See 1 Corinthians 3:1-3.

If we are trained as miners, we are able to discern the truth of scripture, and bypass the attractive looking nuggets as they are fools-gold, worthless and distracting.

If the nugget comes from the ore of speculation and ambiguity, beware.

Funny, sad, and true… this is man made religion. Thus Pelagian theology still makes their attempts at domination known… without Gods Grace and total sovereign will being the directorate for our (I should say their) lives. This is truly a sad state of being for both temporal and eternal life.

Notice these posts addressing the poster and not the post?

To disagree with false doctrine is portrayed as rewriting scripture. Shameful.

Then we have the name calling and guilt by association, thus seeking to avoid speculative claims and views arising from ambiguity is falsely called Pelagianism.

Pelagianism is a Christian theological position that holds that the fall did not taint human nature and that humans by divine grace have free will to achieve human perfection

Was this heresy even mentioned in the OP? Nope.

Here is the view that is actually under attack:

The proper understanding of 1 Corinthians 2:14 is that the natural person, not indwelt, cannot understand the spiritual solid food of the Spirit of God. But they can understand spiritual milk, the fundamentals of the gospel. This limitation also applies to immature Christians because they have not yet grown enough to be able to understand spiritual solid food. See 1 Corinthians 3:1-3.

As diligent students of God's word, we must prayerfully study His word, considering the context, and the scope or extent of statements so as not to diminish or expand God's word, thus taking away or adding to God's word.
