According to CNN (for what it's worth) the investigation is being conducted by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Once that work is complete, which the CNN article says might take 2-3 months, it will be up to the Hennepin County Attorney, not a grand jury, to decide whether to press charges.

You indicated in an earlier post that you were (or still are) in law enforcement.
Here's my question then: why isn't this information passed on to the media,
and if so, why aren't they broadcasting or printing this information? I know
law enforcement cannot dictate to the press as to what they can or cannot
put out there, but has anyone in law enforcement bothered to ask them why
they are not doing so?

If camera activation occurs when they exit the squad, and dash cams when
the emergency lights are activated, if that's the case, then who's to say the
individual cop isn't shutting off his camera? You can see how that theory
effects public perception.
As I said earlier, the media is almost always 50 to 100% wrong. Each agency has its own policy on camera use. Most have body cams on when out of the car for an official reason. Yes, the officers turn them on and off. Dash cams can be manually turned on and off. They all turn on automatically when the blue lights are on. It is not practical for many reasons to run cameras at all times.

Assuming news coverage is somewhat accurate, you can expect more of this if people continue to assassinate police officers. Scared police officers often make poor decisions. I am guessing officer thought he was being ambushed.

Maybe so, but reports say his partner was talking with the woman when it happened. Weird situation.

Hmm, just wondering" What if it was a white officer gunning down a Muslim woman?

And? Would it have been better or worse? What if it were a female Hispanic officer shooting a Chinese 10-year-old? What if it were a Vietnamese-American officer who shot a Jehovah's Witness? Those who don't like politicization of some things are OK if it's other things?

Agreed. I think race/nationality have nothing to do with this case. The one possibility is that he was rushed through his training because of the PR value of his heritage but that is just speculation at this point.

It just sounds like a sad accident. He will likely need therapy for a long time and will probably never fire a weapon again.

If it was a white officer gunning down a Muslim woman it probably would have been made into a global hate crime by our communist news media resulting in Muslim people rioting around the world.

Odd. One thing I learned in my years on the force was that whatever the media reports will most often be between 50 and 100 % wrong. If it is accurate as reported, which I doubt it is, Muhommad should be doing some long, hard time.

Truer word were never spoken. Amen

Last night a local man I'm acquainted with said if Noor had shot his wife under those
circumstances, he said he'd personally see to it that it would have ended very badly
for the officer. I have an idea what he meant. I didn't ask, and he didn't elaborate. We
just parted ways. That was that.

Makes me wonder just how much more the public can take before law enforcement starts
losing the respect and support they've worked hard for.

We would see and hear Muslim's giving non-stop press conferences across all media networks.
There would be demands for federal intervention.

There would be marches, including quite a few local sellouts from American universities marching
alongside their "islamic brethern" in solidarity against white bigotry and all that nonsense. And
our local/national media would be right there granting a full, in-your-face interview denouncing
American hatred for Muslims, most notably against President Trump for "promoting islamophobia."

We would have Muslim's calling for "more education and openness and acceptance of Islam",
plus we would have more invitations from them to visit your local mosque and find out just
how peaceful and tolerant they are toward Christians, Jews and others.

We would see nothing but smiles, smiles, and more smiles from Muslin clerics, in another vain
attempt to persuade us into developing a guilty conscience. More psych-warfare to win the
hearts and minds of infidels.....excuse me: to win the hearts and minds of idiots.

Look at it this way: law enforcement is a job performed by imperfect people who make mistakes. Doctors make mistakes that kill people. Truck drivers make mistakes that kill people. Restaurant workers make mistakes that kill people. Law enforcement officers will make mistakes because they are humans. When they do, there are consequences. The public "outrage" about police is simply moronic. A Dr. misdiagnosed my friend and due to that misdiagnosis my friend died. Where is the outrage against doctors?
Law enforcement is hated because our society has an in general rebellion against all authority.

Their individual mistakes provide the leftist fake news media another opportunity to dump garbage on the total population of law enforcement. The result : "What do we want...", "Fry 'em like bacon...".

Followed then by police officer assassinations.

Therefore the the fake news media corporations, their journalists and the associated demonstrators ALL have blood on their hands.

Rebellion against authority is rebellion against God. That's what I've been taught since
getting saved in 1973. I got to know an Internal Affairs detective back in the late 70s,
early 80's. I knew there were bad cops out there. I just never came across any, at least,
not during a confrontation with one. But I knew that cops are hardly anything like the fictional
Sgt. Joe Friday, or the fictional Officer Malloy and Officer Reed of "Adam-12". We wished that
were the case, even today, but it's not.

Even today, I still see a much more clearly defined serious defect in judgement among some cops.

A 40-year-old woman who family members said called 911 to report a possible assault in the alley behind her home Saturday night was fatally shot by a Minneapolis police officer.

The shooting happened at the end of the alley on W. 51st Street between Washburn and Xerxes avenues S. in the city’s Fulton neighborhood.

The woman, Justine Damond, from Sydney, Australia, and her fiancé lived in the 5000 block of Washburn.

Three sources with knowledge of the incident said Sunday that two officers in one squad car, responding to the 911 call, pulled into the alley. Damond, in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat pulled his gun and shot Damond through the driver’s side door, sources said. No weapon was found at the scene.

“Two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue S. just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday,” the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a news release. “At one point, an officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman.

---------------

The Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed a 40-year-old woman in the alley behind her home Saturday night has been identified as Officer Mohamed Noor. Meanwhile, state investigators have confirmed that they did not find any weapons at the scene.

Noor, 31, joined the department in March 2015 as the first Somali police officer to patrol the 5th Precinct in southwest Minneapolis, according to a city newsletter. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Augsburg College. Before joining the department, he worked in property management in commercial and residential properties in Minneapolis and St. Louis, Mo.

------------------

I can tell you this is a low-crime middle class neighborhood. I'm trying to think of a reason a policeman would shoot past his partner in the driver's seat and kill a woman standing just outside the car in her pajamas.

I heard a watch commander say prior to sending officers into the road, If your afraid of routine traffic stops or attend to do mystic violence, this ain't the job for you." Cop are afraid because
They are just people. Reciently we saw an officer shoot a tracher in a traffic stop. The teacher said I have a weapon, was reaching into his pocket getting the required ID. The officer panicked and emptied his gun into the man in front spouse and a child. Pure fear and lives are ruined. Does anyone think this man will ever sleep again. Pray for our long blue line.

When does news become non-news? Just watch the networks. Did you ever dream this would happen here? It would help if everyone read Mao's selected works and see how he organized
China. I am fearful for the direction our nation is traveling.
