Mitt Romney Could Recoup Extra Tax Payments After Election With Amended Return

Just the other day he said Americans would not elect a person as president if they paid more on their income taxes than was necessary. Now he does not take all the deductions he could so his tax rate is above 13% ... at least until after the election.

Thank goodness the American people are not as stupid as he seems to believe.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Friday announced that he will not take all the charitable deductions to which he was entitled for his 2011 taxes, in order to keep his tax return from falling below a threshold that would falsify an earlier assertion that he'd never paid lower than a 13 percent tax rate.

Romney has asserted that he does not believe in paying more taxes than required.

"I don't pay more than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don't think I'd be qualified to become president," Romney has previously said. "I'd think people would want me to follow the law and pay only what the tax code requires."

Well they proved they were stupid 4 years ago and seem to be on the road to doing so again.

Obama is without doubt the poorest excuse for president in the country's history, yet people like you fall down before him! Disgusting Crabby. There is only ONE you should fall down before!

What does your comment have to do with Romney's taxes?

Obviously he is playing politics with his tax return. I think releasing it now is a mistake. It brings the topic back to public attention and he does not need that.

Actually, it is the log-in-their-eye left that is playing politics with the tax returns.

Anything goes, as long as you don't have to adress what an abysmal failure the zero has been.

Surprised? Tis the season for playing politics. Just look at the politics Obama played with the embassy attacks by the spontaneous, er, small and savage group, er, I guess they were TERRORISTS.

Effectively takes the spotlight off the 47% brouhaha.

Anyone think his tax guy didn't mention filing an amended return after the election? Or that he was ignorant of the tax rules?

Anyway, I have not read that he released the IMPORTANT form, the listing of all foreign investments.

He hasn't and I bet he won't.

You people realize that even Mitt Romney himself does not know where his money is invested. It's been in a blind trust since his days as governor of Mass.

What do investments deposited in foreign countries have to do with his tax return?

Oh brother.

The politics of envy.

Amen to that as the election gets shorter. Talk about issues that affect American citizens. Instead of debating tax returns, maybe we should demand records to show if Obama or Romney flush the toilet more wasting precious water resources. Where do these people and ideas come from?

As I said, releasing his 2011 return was a mistake. It is almost as if someone is paying Romney to make mistakes.

Romney's tax disclosure only makes him more alien.

Mitt Romney's tax returns raise new questions about his capacity to empathize. His adjusted gross income for 2010 and 2011 totaled $35.3 million dollars. Each year, American tax payers stare at this exact line on their own 1040s and hope that their aching bodies and tireless commitment has made this number slightly larger than it was the year before. Sadly, for too many it remains unchanged or has plummeted.

Unlike Romney, average Americans do not have officials from PricewaterhouseCoopers or former IRS commissioners to attest to their hard work and benevolence. For two decades, their median American income has been stagnant, their financial futures uncertain. They face salary freezes, extended layoffs, eroded equity, soaring fuel costs, and staggering debt. How will Mitt Romney -- earning millions without lifting a finger -- possibly understand their lives?

Millionaire Ariana Huffington {$300+ million, richer than Romney?} is certainly knowledgeable about the
aching bodies and tireless commitment
of the middle class folks.

For two decades, their median American income has been stagnant, their financial futures uncertain. They face salary freezes, extended layoffs, eroded equity, soaring fuel costs, and staggering debt.

Twelve years of those two decades of misery by working Americans were under democrat presidents. During the last four the income has not been stagnant it has gone down 10% for those fortunate enough to have a job.

Crabby you better read more than the first line of the crap you copy from the Huffington Post.

I think she got money the old fashioned way - by marrying it.

(Michael) Huffington was born on September 3, 1947 to Celeste Phyllis and Roy Michael Huffington, the founder of the natural gas exploration company, Roy M. Huffington, Inc. (HUFFCO).

I see y'all are avoiding the topic.

At least Huffington's father earned the money by doing something constructive and not raiding companies.

Now what do y'all think of Romney releasing his 2011 return?
