It shouldn't be too late to post this, since only the first day and 3 playoff games have been played, but I favor the teams which are the "hottest" going into the playoffs to be victorious. That should mean:

    Boston over LA Angels
    Cleveland over NY Yankees
    Chicago Cubs over Arizona
    Colorado over Philadelphia

    Then:
Boston -Cleveland tied, go with which is still hottest after 1st round
    Colorado over Chicago Cubs

    WS:
    Colorado over Boston or Cleveland

While this method is based on the teams' records in the final week to 10 games, it should be noted that the teams which clinched earlier may appear to not be as 'hot,' while they knew they just didn't have to give their best effort in the last week, but that also may have the effect of slowing a team down 'for real.' Nevertheless, a team rarely goes from hot to cold, or from cold to hot, once the postseason has started... the outstanding exception being Boston in 2004, which within an out of being swept in the league championship, then won 4 straight, then 4 more straight in the WS. So anything can happen.

All the way back to the drawing board :) They really need to up the payroll a little bit!

    Indians - $62 million
    Yankees - $190 million

If I were a Yankees fan, I would be very nervous about Pettitte tonight and 65-year old Roger Clemens in Game 3. I know Pettitte's track record of rescuing the team, but he's been erratic at best, with 2 quality starts in September and giving up 8 runs to Baltimore last Saturday. Further, regardless of whether he's the greatest pitcher ever or not, Clemens is still old. He doesn't have enough left in the tank.

On the flip side, Carmona's been very good in September, and I think the Indians will go to Yankee Stadium with a 2-0 lead.

Is it too early to break out the 100 years of losing jokes for the Cubs? :tongue3:

Do the Phillies have it in them to come back one more time? They have a great record of coming from behind and winning games this year, but they look as though they are emotionally wrung out. I'm still rootin' for 'em, but I might have to wait til next year.

I would like to thank the "sacrifice flies" for assisting the Indians last night. That was something else to see! It seems they attributed to both wild pitches, that lead to Sizemore tying the game.

The only bad part of the cubbies getting swept is that now I actually have to think about who to root for in the rest of the post season. As long as the cubbies were in there it was simple. Root for who ever is playing the cubbies.

I'll join the experts and pick the Rockies to beat the Diamondbacks. I say they get it done in 5.

If it were any closer other than Joe Borowski and his 5+ ERA, I'd pick Cleveland over Boston. But, since he's likely to cost the Tribe at least 1 game, I'm picking the Red Sox. The easy way out is to say Boston in 7. I'm saying Boston in 6.
