It's quite likely some people in Jesus'.day rejected his message when they heard himwhich is hard to reconcile arguing views with the leaders they were taught to revere, as well as when he called people names then told them they are in danger of hell fire if #they# call anyone a fool (which is hard to reconcile with Paul later doing so). So it is hard to see your little lecture having the pop you seem to think.

Oh I know that the the wicked evildoers and impostors will continue to reject the truth and go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived because Scripture tells me so.

rd2, personally, no, I don't see any need to get out there and do as commanded. Well, yes, there is a need to do so but I see it as shoveling sand against the tide. Right now that is. The world is reaping what the world has sowed.
Could it possibly be that such refusal and apathy has caused the current results we are seeing? Although I see your sentiment there is nothing in Scripture that supports a believer taking time off due to the status quo.

' ...be ready in season and out of season;...' 2 Timothy 4:2
