After she couldn't rouse the troubled teens for Easter sunrise service of Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church:

syracuse.com/us-news/index.ssf/2018/04/arizona_mom_taser_son_church_easter.html

"Sharron Dobbins, 40, allegedly tased her 17-year-old son on his leg Sunday morning so he would get ready for Easter church services....'I said, "Get up! It's Jesus' day!"' she recounted in an interview with KNXV."

"Dobbins denies actually using the device on the boy, claiming she only 'sparked' the Taser to wake him up....Dobbins told the station that she was frustrated with her two teenage sons, one of whom talked back and 'said some cuss words' as she tried to get them ready for church."

"the teen called police and Dobbins was arrested on one count of child abuse. Court documents say cops found two bumps on his leg where the Taser was allegedly used. According to court documents, the teen said he was not in pain and did not want to testify against his mom. The Taser was impounded and Dobbins was taken into custody."

Why a sunrise service?
Sunrise services are common on this side of the pond. We use them as an excuse to wake up our children really early in a way that keeps them awake throughout service. Traditionally it's ice water, but perhaps the taser is growing in popularity. Think of it as an "Easter basket" for adults.

Sounds like a dumb thing for her to do.
We used to drive stun each other all the time at the P.D. with the tasers as an ongoing prank. It was all consensual. Tasing someone unjustifiable is a a forcible felony. Getting shot with the taser hurts. Drive stun is just annoying and startling.

It could have been worse. If this were in Texas, she could have fired a round in the ceiling (or, for the Britts, waved a butter knife in a threatening manner). :Laugh

LOL. She might have been afraid of being arrested for spanking them.

Mom used the dreaded 'pinch' on me and my brothers to keep us in line IN church. After receiving 'the pinch' all you were able to do was sit and rub the sore spot for the rest of the service. She's gone now, but we brothers all still remember 'the pinch'.
