"Jesus saves". We hear it all of the time, but do we believe it? Or, do we believe that Jesus only provides for the possibility for a man to be saved?

Did Jesus save you, or did He simply die and leave the rest up to you?
Jesus Saves and yes He has provided the means, a requirement of faith and repentance.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

So, if I understand you correctly. people hear the Word of God, and then they have a "free choice" as to is they wish to be saved or not. Is that correct?

Revmitchell,

So you agree:

God from eternity past, always and only, intended to save the elect. He did not coerce them to be His. The Holy Spirit worked in their hearts and made them spiritually alive from the dead: He regenerated them, and this is how they acquired faith unto salvation. Regeneration always precedes faith. In declaring they are saved, they mean it was God enabling them to have faith in Christ.

He did intend to elect the saved. One only become else once one believes.

So President Trump was not elected last November? He only became elected when he was sworn in as President?

It seems to me you have the cart before the horse. He became elect last November and became President in January when he was sworn in.

I was elected in Eternity Past (and, yes, I am aware that is an oxymoron) and believed in 1974.

2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Understanding me isn't the issue. It's understanding scripture. I believe it is plain as the nose on my face. There isn't anything complicated about scripture if you read it in context. Free choice is all through out the Bible. You just have to leave your presuppositions behind and read everything in context. Allowing guidance from the Holy Spirit.
