Monkey God and Obama

Honestly I do not see what the big deal there is about this. Like Rogers said, I never had much confidence in his "profession" of faith to begin with. I could say the same about all the presidents I that have been in power in my lifetime (which is not that many;) )

What is the difference between a hindu monkey god or a roman catholic rosary? I would suspect that perhaps JFK had one of these since he was catholic right?

There are bigger issues at stake like abortion and gay marriage.

True, but these were given as lucky objects or the candidates are using them as such. I agree with you, however, that a Hindu monkey god is much worse.
This is what I meant, the others are only objects no matter their purpose(I don't like the idea of lucky objects either so I'm not supporting that), the monkey is a hindu 'god', by far much worse.

No, I do not believe in luck. Neither do I know if Obama considers this a god or if in fact he is carrying this around. What is your source? A liberal news outlet or some other slanted news outlet?
It doesn't matter if he considers it a 'god' or not, thats what it is. And we see him holding it showing it off, so ti looks like yes he is carrying it around.

A lost person carrying a good luck charm is not a big issue for me. Their eyes are blinded.
It's not just a good luck charm, it's a 'god'.

[failure to show grace to another poster] not mine. It is a representation of a god to some people. To others is it a good luck charm, like a rabbits foot or a cross. To others it is simply something they like but see no significance in. Don't make a mountain out of an ant hill.

christians tried to write off abortion, and homosexual marriage, now they're trying to write of a false 'god' as if it is nothing. God didn't consider it nothing in the bible.

This is uncalled for and you know it, how evil is your statement.
Apparently, if you cared, it's obamas 'god', he's the one carring it around in his pocket.
The intent doesn't matter, a false 'god' is a false 'god', and he puts his trust in a false 'god', or isn't that the intent of a good luck charm.

Read the article folks. The article simply says he has
the tiny figurine of Hanuman, the Indian monkey god, that he carries.

Now it does say he considers it a god. It does not say he considers it a good luck charm. It simply says he has one.

I keep travel pins. They are getting harder and harder to find. I have several from Buddhist temples in China and they show the Buddha. Does that make me a Buddhist? No!

Do I consider them good luck charms? No!

They are simply reminders of places I have visited.

Does a rabbit's foot that many carry make the rabbit's foot their god. No.

However many, including Christians, consider it a good luck charm. That I think is silly.

Listen to the advice of an Indian, quoted in the article, who was an Ambassador to the United States. I don't believe most of you who are so shrill read the article.

We are making a mountain out of a molehill. We are a great nation and a global player. So we don't become lesser or greater because of a phone call," said Lalit Mansingh, a former ambassador to the United States. "Let's give this situation the benefit of the doubt."

Someone has to consider something a false god in order for it to BE a false god?

If you take scripture literally, the wearing of a cross would be idolatry. Nobody wore crosses until the RCC invented the crucifix, another idol. Lucky charms, no matter what they are, are forbidden. How dare anyone poke a stick at Obama for doing this, and then in the next sentence, tell about a lucky sweater.

There are some on this thread with way too much time on their hands. Take a walk, plant a garden, read a book, work a crossword puzzle, read more Scripture, do something that expands the mind.

Hey, now here is an idea. Two in this thread I will not mention could start a thread on the satanic influence of eating Lucky Charms for breakfast.

You only have to act as if it's your god. The Bible says that no one can serve two masters, God and mammon. If you say you serve God but act as if you serve the world you worship a false god.

So I can put buddah or vishnu statues in my house and it doesn't matter unless I consider them to be 'gods' or false idols? God doesn't care, doesn't think anything about it?

What do you expect from Christians that support Obama?

If a person supports murder, what makes the difference if they support worshipping a false God.

If you break one commandment you are guilty of them all...

And Obama supporters are supporters of Murder...

You can expect them to act that way.
